I has a local html page like that for a while to have the same bookmarks between browsers. Nothing fancy, just dark theme, a header and unordered list. Don't have it anymore. I should do another one.

originally i had one like op's pic, simpler but same idea, and i ended up getting rid of it because i already had the same sites bookmarked so having links on the page felt redundant and distracting.

I haven't bothered with a startpage because I would probably try to include it with my dotfiles and those are public, I don't want people to see what sites I browse on a regular basis.

yeah it's literally just a website (html, css, js or whatever). add your links, make it look nice, bloat it up with code if you want, anything really.

Honestly I gave up writing it cause I couldn't get Firefox to make a local html file my new tab page and now I just have the default

What's even the point? Firefox doesn't let you set the new tab page to your home page anyway, without some extension that rarely works.
