Why do all Linux desktop-environments deliberately go against the grain by putting their own "unique" spin on the traditional desktop interface instead of simply copying off of Windows (which spent hundreds of millions $ in R&D over 30 years determining the optimal UI layout for a PC interface) This shit is the #1 single biggest reason hampering widespread Linux adoption. No one wants to re-learn a whole new interface, new set of keyboard shortcuts, new muscle memories, and just having everything LOOK DIFFERENT FOR NO GOD DAMN REASON. I am so tired of Linux desktops being "different" just for the sake of being autistically different. YOTLD will NEVER be a thing until they give it up already. The day someone makes a DE that looks/feels 99% like Windows 11, then Linux adoption would skyrocket and Microsoft would be finished.

Ok so if you're that autistic why don't you just use Windows
Here's your centered taskbar!
I mean you can just change it so it's left justified lmao
Windows and Mac OS do it too tho
no one any longer makes a decent consistent gui
OP is a Black person
>Oh my fauci <different thing> does things differently compared to the <thing I am used to>
>I will just complain about <different thing> instead of using <thing I am used to>
Autists can't design, period. If your brain is wired for spatial reasoning it is not wired for aesthetics and beauty.
This is also a huge problem in indie games, have you ever noticed the giga autists that do shit like writing their own game engines and rendering engines and shit for their fricking sidescroller end up making the shittiest looking games of all time? Braid, Handmade Hero, and every piece of slop those morons John Blowjob and Casey Moratorium inspired look like hot fricking ass every time.
I think this is because the 200 people on earth who are capable of decent UX were/are too busy getting hammered and crushing mad pussy in college so there's no cross-pollination between them and autistics who work on linux distros.
>The day someone makes a DE that looks/feels 99% like Windows 11, then Linux adoption would skyrocket and Microsoft would be finished.
no. the day adobe and ms office crumple away unneeded as "standards" will be yotld. de means frickall.
>Why
patents.
>new set of keyboard shortcuts
you can change them to whatever you want without downloading a shady exe-file, no one wants the moronic change desktop keycombo of winpoo
>R&D over 30 years
..to come up with poo, gtfo microshit pajeet
It's an entirely different philosophy. Even if there is never YOTLD, Linux will continue and there will always be devs and users.
>I'm from a time before personal computers, smart/mobile phones and we got plenty of shit done without them. Life was better.
i spent 5s on ricing my i3
>Windows (which spent hundreds of millions $ in R&D over 30 years determining the optimal UI layout for a PC interface)
Sure.
that looks horrible. Everything after XP was a mistake
Centering the buttons in the taskbar was a humiliation ritual, just like the search bar globohomosexual art shit.
>(which spent hundreds of millions $ in R&D over 30 years determining the optimal UI layout for a PC interface)
This nonsense is why linux desktop will never, ever, ever be heavily adopted. Even when a clear as day problem can be identified the supposed-to-be "based enlightened peaceful council of wise elders" linux community not only can't agree on a solution, they can't agree on recognizing the severity of the problem. It's no surprise, whatsoever, that linux users tend to congregate on the l*ft. This type of splintering, self-cannibalism, and lack of shared vision beyond vaguely worded values is typical of the scenario.
Some people always need this to be some kind of tribal warfare "but mmmYYY choice is better than yours!" but it never means anything because pledging loyalty to any given OS is stupid. Windows has its problems, and Linux has its problems. The difference is Linux has no excuse.
Linux, by all rights, ought to be able to get its act together, unify, and focus hard on delivering an unquestionably superior product through a shared vision and commitment to defeating the big fatcat proprietary megacorps it hates so much. It can't. Instead it's a bunch of directionless rabbits running around eating each others' lettuce and shitting in each others' fur. Linux adherents are victims of their own ideology, the more cooks' hands in the pot the worse the stew.
wubuntu? mint?
>wubuntu
It's literally a botnet
mint?
Huh? Nearly every Linux DE more-or-less is a Windows clone with a lot of similar bindings, or can be made to function like a Windows clone with very little effort. The only major desktop environment that really deviates heavily from a Windows-like UI is GNOME, and even that has dash-to-panel and arc menu.
>feels 99% like Windows 11
SHILL DETECTED!
OPINION REJECTED!
People are literally abandoning windows 11 in mass. MS is literally killing itself since 2007 by breaking its own UIs and making them shit
>Ribbon
>Windows 8
>Windows 11
