Stop pressing the power button while updates are installing. That's why your windows install keeps breaking "for no reason"

"humiliation ritual" originates from here doe

Windows updates are a humiliation ritual. They serve as a reminder of the fact that "your" computer is not actually yours, and "your" data doesn't belong to you either. It belongs to the narcissistic psychopaths that own Microsoft and to their glowBlack person buttbuddies that get all a copy of your data. Psychopaths love personal information. Think a guy walking around with a notebook and camera taking creepshots and writing down information about his crush is creepy? These companies have the equivalent of thousands of books of information on you, plus every private message and photo you've given them.

      Just disable updates
I can't help but notice the overlap between people who are crying about updates and forced restarts and people who are too stupid to disable windows updates.

No matter what you do windows will still force close everything, making you lose progress (and corrupting downloads, transfers, installs, and everything you leave to finish overnight) and you'll wake up in the morning with it asking for your login password. Doesn't matter if you change the policies, registry, or some setting.

if its still updating then clearly you haven't disabled updates

I can't turn off updates on my work PC. I don't have those kinds of privileges.
I mean, I'm sure I can figure it out but getting caught would be worse than the annoying updates.

Then just update it while you arent compiling, your emails and browser tabs will still be there afterwards

I did that several times on the windows 7 days. Nothing ever broke. Nowadays updates are so fast I don't have time to press the power button.

Hmm I don't know. Let me check
      *checks*
It does not appear to have this problem. Can I get third party verificiation?

third party here, i can confirm.
if you dont break your os with unconsidered updooting to nightlies, or with other miscalculated manipulations, loonix doesnt break

Sure turn off your pc in the middle of installing updates in the terminal and tell me how it works out for you

I avoid this by using Linux.the only thing that's not flawless ootb is VR gaymen

Linus will also break if you turn it off while its installing updates

    >Try to update back in January
    >Update fails for some godforsaken reason, computer restarts without updating
    >Two days ago computer prompts me to restart, claiming it can install the updates now
    >Do so
    >Computer starts up extremely sluggishly, Explorer crashes constantly, lose the driver to my graphics card and it refuses to be reinstalled, lose connection to my second monitor
    >Spend all yesterday trying to bypass permissions (that I don't have for some reason) to reinstall drivers again and clean out the system update files
    >Doesn't work, so check the memory management
    >Hardware failure, so check every ram stick I have
    >Two ram sticks died, pull them out and use my two remaining good ones
    >Still runs slowly
    >Bite the bullet and load the Windows installer on a flash drive on my laptop
    >Spend an hour and a half waiting for Windows to load Explorer so I can finally load the installer
    >Then spend two hours waiting for the installer to actually load
    >By the time the Windows reinstall has finished it's 4 AM
    >Get my second monitor back, my graphics card driver, computer runs smooth as silk again
    >Tentatively perform the updates again
    >No problems after updating

i used win 10 until it broke one of my gaymes (the reason i used it. vidya.)

win fricking eleven lasted exactly one (1) day on my pops laptop
and now res rumors of win 11 refusing to show non-drm content

go frick yourself with a win 11 installation usb dongle, will ya?

        fair enough
i used "rumors" bc this is too f* enormous
and i dont have anybody in my entourage whom uses w11 so i couldnt verify.
its not like it would surprize me tho.

        win XP already was malware-
W XP install prevented you from downgrading to W98. unless you used W95's fdisk (format util) (i am not joking when i say i used all wins since w 3.11)
