Now I used KDE Neon with Plasma Mobile Desktop Package.

Did it work well?
I'd love to have a comfy, reading tablet that could ssh into my main machine or laptop to get e-books but I thought loonix on tablets is still sadly a meme. How polished is Plasma Mobile?
What are you talking about? You sound like a bot
The best ultra mobile pc is the m3 13 inch MacBook Air
Other than that, the soon to be iPad Pro M3 13 inch with Magic Keyboard, at least 1TB storage so it can have the 16GB of memory
The iPad Pro comes in 11 and 13 inch
iPad mini is that size though
I dont think its too big since flagship smartphones are an inch smaller than that

Tablets arent
If you like mobile a lot then a tablet is a great upgrade
I want the new iPad Pro for codm, tv, and movies

>2024 >not owning a hot air station and having the ability and skill set to easily upgrade memory
Soldering chips is the 2024 equivalent of hotswap sockets.
Keep up Grandpa
Anyway I'm not talking about big bulky computers. I'm specifically talking about anything around the size of a 7-10 inch tablet. A steam deck isn't that much bigger/heavier than an iPad but costs less and does more albeit with obviously lower battery life for video/manga playback.
>It seems like iPads pretty much won in the tablet market.
wow anon you really convinced me. I have an iPad Pro and it's a literal paper weight, can't do shit because of how locked down the software is. I can literally do more on my shitty Samsung S9
Samsung, lenovo, google pixel.
Ipad has a very limited functionality compared to android, also as media consumption device samsung amoled tablets are miles above ipad
There is absolutely no way you could believe this if you've actually used both, Android tablets are barely where the iPad was a decade ago in terms of software support.
Modern iPads have mouse and keyboard support, multitasking with window management, 16GB RAM and a faster CPU than most laptops, and run enough professional software that for some fields (e.g. healthcare) it can completely replace a laptop.
Sideloading on Android is intentionally bad. Apps installed from outside the store can't use push notifications, location services, background updates, or a whole variety of other things people expect as standard.
You don't need to root your phone and many apps will refuse to run if they detect that it is, for good reason.
Safari on iOS does support extensions. I'm using IQfyX via a user script manager on an iPad right now.
The Files app has supported USB drives for 7 years.
I'm not sure what you mean by "desktop mode" but the iPad has support for multitasking with free-floating windows.

Works on my machine
>You don't need to root your phone
It's not yours if you can't
>Safari on iOS does support extensions.
Likely carefully pre-selected only. Not everything that's available on desktop
>The Files app has supported USB drives for 7 years.
But not transfer by simple usb cable to pc. That shits black magic for apple users
>I'm not sure what you mean by "desktop mode"
Picrel. The reason why people hate on tablets is because of fisher price interface. A proper desktop experience is key for useful usage, which includes exact desktop behaviour

You can't plug a laptop into another laptop with a USB cable and move files between them either. An iPad doesn't work like an external storage device precisely because it's a proper computer and not a peripheral.
I also don't see how having a facsimile of a desktop environment on your tablet makes any difference. iPads have a dock and a fullscreen app list, Dex has a dock and an app list that is stuck in the corner, both act the same once apps are running.

Except you can. Ethernet was created just for this very reason. Weak argument ultimately, arguing why missing features is le good
>I also don't see how having a facsimile of a desktop environment on your tablet makes any difference.
It does. I use a stylus, which is closer to a mouse. I also want to use the desktop as a drag-and-drop space. I shouldn't need to adapt to a tablet, a tablet should adapt to my gui habits
>both act the same once apps are running.
People got used to tiled windows in front of a desktop. Why should one settle for less, if a windows gui ran on hardware 100x worse 30 years ago?

If you connect an iPad to a network (and if you want to be weird about it you can in fact use a USB ethernet adapter) it can move files over SMB just fine.
I still don't understand why you need a facsimile of a desktop to consider a computer usable. An iPad can open multiple windows and drag stuff between them just fine, what's missing?

>If you connect an iPad to a network
I shouldn't need to do that. I should use USB just like any other mobile device i ever owned and had no problems with. I shouldn't set up software, or run a virtual server or anything for this simple task, especially since the competitors allow me to.
Same with eg sd cards: i just plug a $25 SD card and tripple my disk space instantly. Why can't i do that on an ipad, wtf?!
>what's missing?
Your ability to not be an itoddler.
Would you install ipadOS on your macbook? No? Same reasons apply here...

Are you fricking moronic? It's not your cuckOS, everything works fine. Even on custom ROMs. Haven't used israelitegle store for years. >You don't need to root your phone and many apps will refuse to run if they detect that it is, for good reason.
No, it's just cuckoldry. I can block ads without VPN and shady DNS servers. I can remove FLAG_SECURE to record streams. I can use terminal - full, working. I can use real firewall - using iptables.
You're just a troon and corposlave.
Also nearly all apps requiring base attestation work fine - with PlayIntegrityFix module.
>can't even transfer files via usb
It's harder on windows because itunes is the worst piece of shit program ever to exist. But on linux it's just ifuse /mnt
Im not sure about Android tablet
The best tablet chip will be the M3 and androids best is the snapdragon gen 3
Is that snapdragons flagship chip?
Do you know the naming scheme and chip hierarchy for them? Its confusing and I’m lost about it
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the current flagship, no?
Yeah, nah, I'm gonna stick to my x86 tablets and just put Linux on it. Like I always did.
Did you put openSUSE on a tablet?
Which DE is the best for touch interface? Plasma?
Now I used KDE Neon with Plasma Mobile Desktop Package.

They're both toys compared to x86 UMPCs. Sure the battery lasts forever for watching video/manga but CHRIST ALMIGHTY are they gimped to hell and back.
The fricking things treat you like you have a room temperature IQ. Which makes sense when you look at the ads featuring full blown 100% africans.

why buy a android/ios tablet when you can get a surface pro that runs a full os
not oled
heavier and less comfortable to hold
worse battery life
pen requires charging
Cause we’re specifically asking for tablets
Mobile gaming and media consumption
>mobile gaming
that's a funny way to spell mental illness
Mobile gaming is the shit
Half of the gaming industry
the tablet market is dead, youll get much more value for your money with a 2 in 1
Amazon still makes tablets
