>“I wouldn’t say so. I’ve always been mad, it’s only that before last year, I could spend more time dancing with the fairy queen than Charon. Do you know those colliers on the Thames that are so heavy laden it takes only a snowfall to sink them? I suppose that was me, and I was foolish to venture into the snow unbidden. I won’t claim shellshock, I didn’t get blown up, but the boys... the boys apologized to us when they died, they apologized with their innards lying on their bellies: ‘I hate to do this to you, angels! Well done though!’ and we had done nothing save administer morphine and muck the bloody floors.”
>"Given perfect choice, I would have liked to have done it in the spring, but I could not wait, so I sat beneath a leafing tree rather than a budding one, with a scalpel, a little outside of Reims, and I tried for the happy dispatch. It was happy, you know. They say that when a fellow hangs himself or what have you, as he twitches at the end of the noose, he regrets it all and wants nothing more in the world than for the chair to be put back under him. Perhaps it was because I was particularly downcast, but my sole regret, at least then, was that I had not thought to get hold of a pistol."

My girlfriend’s car is named Charon
Why is your gf’s car named after the ferryman to the underworld?
She’s a really bad driver and is convinced she’ll die driving and the car will be what takes her to the underworld
I impressed by your gf’s knowledge of myth, that’s rare these days.
You should glue coins onto the headlights.
Onto the airbag portion of the steering wheel.
Is she cute? She sounds like she's cute.
Have an ex who named her old Ford Ranger Petrushka. In school, she was a Piano major, and I guess liked Stravinsky, although this was something we never discussed.
When I come to power, women who name their cars will be institutionalized - and that’s not misogyny, as men who name their cars will be killed on sight.
A little draconian there, anon
OTOH I personally have nothing to fear as I've never named a car, or ftm ever once thought to get a personalized liscense plate, or even a tattoo.

How has almost a century of feminism and women’s education made women worse writers?
Because prior to women's education on the aristocratic women wrote, and aristos are better at everything.
who is this and what are the chances of her becoming my IQfyfu
This is an excerpt from some IQfy anon who killed himself and was apparently a decent writer. The image in the OP has nothing to do with the text and this thread is some sort of bait.
How do you know he killed himself though? Did he write a book, can you post it?
I knew this homosexual (pbuh) from discord and yes he did end it after being rejected from 5 or so MFA programs. He never wrote a novel but I do have the full text of the short story excerpted in this thread.

why would anyone kill himself for being reject by pseuds in MFA programs? those guys literally do nothing worth reading lol
If you’re a writer, MFA folks are your peers and that rejection would sting.
no they don't, they are just pseuds smelling their own farts who nothing of worth today. no one with talent needs anything from these hacks, just like someone with talent for painting doesn't need validation from art major who think empty canvas are art
I mean, reading the dead homosexual’s excerpts I’m not sure it’s anything special.
I don’t know man. If that prose was really written recently it’s pretty fricking astounding.
What's the whole story. What was he like? newbie here and enjoy hearing all the IQfy lore I missed
I wouldn’t call it IQfy lore except for the occasional pieces he posted here. Most of the action took place in the Evelyn Waugh discord we both frequented. Guy was self taught, his background was in aviation technology, but he loved history and wrote a lot of historical fiction. At one point he decided that he couldn’t live as a AvTech bugman anymore and made a mad dash at either getting published or getting an MFA. When both failed he hanged himself. He didn’t leave a note, IIRC.
>the Evelyn Waugh discord
Are there discord dedicated to authors or something?
Not on or via IQfy but yes.
>he couldn’t live as a AvTech bugman
yeah i dont believe that
I find that very believable. If you’re creative and a free spirit that sort of work is soul crushing.
This is really good, but I doubt it was written by a “self taught”
author. It’s very literate and uses a lot of allusions. The reference to D’Oyly Carte is very old fashioned and very British. If it was written recently it was almost certainly written by an old, well educated Angloid.
You're wrong and you're a grotesquely ugly freak.
Wrong about what? The quality of the piece or the attribution? The last page really gives it away, who the frick under the age of 80 knows what a “forty and eight” is?
Anyone who read ASOIAF.
There are box cars in ASOIF?
>who the frick under the age of 80 knows what a “forty and eight” is?
Someone who's interested in WW1 history?
The piece was also probably written by a woman imo
Reads like the work of a troon to me.
It’s reads like Waugh.
Yea who is it? Seems like a translation because google does not recognize this text.
Ah ah ah, I know the man!
