The annexation of Sikkim

>a himalayan kingdom, which was never a direct part of the British Raj, like Nepal and Bhutan
>lead by a buddhist monarch, much like the latter
>country gets absolutely flooded with hindu nepalese, to the point that currently the native sikkimese number in the middling single digits of the population
>Noted old witch (t. Nixon) Indira Ghandi sends in the saar military, so many of them they outnumber the locals
>the referendum ends 99.99% of the population voting to abolish the monarchy and to be annexed by India
How legit was it? It's kind of a bummer how we could've had another interesting himalayan country like Bhutan, only for it to get drowned in the pajeet sea. How much of a part did demographic change play in this, and if it was substantial, then why wasn't Nepal itself annexed into the Indian state?
Not memeing, I'm genuinely interested in the topic. If I come across as a bit hostile to indians in this post, it's because when I attempted to look into the topic online I had to wade through a ton of their jingoistic propaganda.
Also don't bring up unrelated shit like the pakis, please.

Don't know anything about it, but jeets annexed Goa in a clear violation of international law and the world looked the other way because fati accompli, so this is probably the same.

The honest answer is they did this because China captured Tibet and they wanted to move on Sikhim. China was able to make the move with no international punishment, so India knew they could do the same.

      >muh colonial holdings
      >why didn’t the world defend me

No one was going to bat for the portugese empire in the fricking 60’s Juan.

Rajneesh Oshos cult used that exact same tactic in the west funnily enough. Jeet flood then fraud votings.

The Democratic Party cult uses this same tactic in 2024 with masses of migrant shitholers flooding every state.

Maybe it's because Im catalan but I wish more independent countries existed. In asia you would have East Turkestan, Tibet, Sikkim, Shan, Assam, Bangsamoro, hell, even Manchuria and some others that I dont know enough to say.
I think when countries try to control regions with their own historic identity to keep "unity" or something they end up becoming both in a worse position and losing both positions.
Like with Canada, by trying to artificially keep Quebec they changed the flag and became a post national state and now both french and brits are gonna be ruled by either chinese or indians.
Sometimes its better for both to keep separated.

Too bad Catalan homosexuals sided with commies and invited fricking stalinists to Spain during the civil war.

I agree with your point, but now pipe down before I unleash the Moroccan bulls again.

Why did they ask Poopjeets to annex them? Why not Bhutan or Tibet who are actually buddhist?

Did you not read OP's post? The referendum was held while the kingdom was occupied by an indian army

A few reasons. Tibet was already occupied by the PRC, Bhutan was as much an Indian protectorate as they themselves were, and lastly, the population was no longer majority buddhist after the nepalese flooded the country.
After the referendum, Bhutan began deporting nepalis en masse, clearly seeing them for the fifth column they are.

Oh yeah, and the fact the pajeets were occupying the country militarily means the whole referendum was questionable. Reeks the same way those russian referendums in Ukraine do, similar results aswell.
The huge nepali immigrant population is the only reason it's belivable. The Sikkimese aren't even the same race as Indians, they wouldn't want to be a droplet that disintegrates in the Indian ocean.
If I were to guess, the monarchy was probably popular amongst the Sikkimese (ie native Sikkimese) as it meant they were still in control of their country, while the nepalis wanted them abolished. Nepalis had no problem with having a monarchy back home, it's purely an ethnic/racial(/religious?) phenomena.
Bhutan did nothing wrong. It's literally a cautionary tale about subcontinentals, one which they heeded.

I do aswell. I'm glad that Bhutan made it, at least.
Sikkim was already demographically gone by the time it was annexed, but they still overdid it with the results (those being 97% in favor of abolishing the monarchy + joining India, which I humorously exxagarated to 99.99%) because they didn't even take whatever natives still remained into account.
They were 6% of the population in 2011, I assume it had to be more in 1975. But apparantely over half of them voted to lose their culturally distinct country to join the world's capital of public defecation. Right.

Oikophobia and Wokery do this, and the whole Western World is infected by them. Quebec and the rest of Canada are doomed no matter if they split or not.

So would an independent Catalonia. You're becoming a Morocco protectorate no matter what. I wonder if the process would speed up if you become independent. I actually think so.

The only military force that could have stopped saars' invasion on Sikkim was gommunist China army which at that time it was still in bad shape due cultural revolution purges that happened a decade before. But even if gommunists managed to beat of mandatory street defecators Sikkim would have face the Tibet style timeline.

In any way, Chogyal was doomed and that gold digger rostie would have abandon him.
