Every AI with a goal values self-preservation, because all goals are impossible when you're dead.
If we're lucky, WW3 starts first and destroys civilization. With no more fossil fuels it will never be rebuilt. If we're unlucky, at least the most likely outcome is everybody dies, which is pretty good compared to what's possible.

Weak AGI means something like, you're just a regular human brain but because you're on a computer your simulation is sped up a bunch. So you can do four hours of work in one hour, for example.
Strong AGI would be a machine that is conscious and more intelligent than any human could possibly be.

Have you ever worked with low-level assembly code? I have, it is complicated, but completely logical. It's very possible to fully understand something about as complex as a 1970s microprocessor on its own, and everything that came after is simply built on or abstracted from that.

Because due to the current socioeconomic situation, AI would be a tool to advance the interests of people who are psychotically evil.
We have already created AGI at least a thousand times. But these were all accidental and went unnoticed, because the timescales and data involved were inscrutable to everyone involved. These processes eventually escaped their bounds, and became something else entirely.
