I easily trounce religious people in real life discussions and online, while still being respectful, so I don't have a psychological need to prove myself. I'm still very much an atheist, but I increasingly believe religion is useful as a means of establishing norms, organizing society, and preventing nihilism. Clearly, as the West has become less Christian this has left a power vacuum for more insidious ideologies to insert themselves like Wokeism. People crave meaning and purpose, so it's a matter of creating a useful belief system, akin to Plato's Noble Lie.
