>it failed because it was garbage what's so weird about that?
Skype was great before MS bought it.
Everything MS touches it turns to cow shit (pajeets love cow shit).
Youtube is so hindu right now. It's so fake. It's always 'content'.
You just CAN'T talk about anything without filling up a 50 minute video about the history of the world just to explain why Skype is losing customers.
>You just CAN'T talk about anything without filling up a 50 minute video about the history of the world just to explain why Skype is losing customers.
Zoomers watch 4-hour video essays on how dialectical materialism affects the characters of spongebob.
YT becomes a better site if you skip channels with the following >in-video paid ads >"""super thanks""" >a bunch of 10+ min videos in their list >vidya playthroughs
And even then, you must be extra careful with some channels that pump out low-length touchyfeely videos to bait you into paid content outside YT (I see you bigboxSWE). Everyone is out there for the money now.
If it ends up on "popular" it's not worth watching
If it ends up on television it's not worth watching
And if it doesn't make you happier/more fulfilled after watching, it's not worth watching.
The simple truth is most content is bad, and the content that is good is rare.
Some of my favorite videomakers have been uploading for many many years with only minor updates to content, think CodysLab still doing fun and random experiments in his back yard
I have to use it to talk to a friend of mine and it's being completely filled with AI aids. Also my avatar on there (picrel) got removed for hate speech.
Because Skype was worse, Internet Forums has a reason to exist. With discord, those ceased to exist as well. > t. founder of a forgotten popular german discussion board
but forums and a voice chat have different purposes, I don't understand why discord is taking over forums just so people can repeat questions since there's no public indexing.
He makes some weird accusations like blaming Windows 8. I worked at Skype after the decline. They couldn't altogether prevent the growth of competing chat apps, but they did absolutely everything wrong in trying to improve and keep Skype relevant. They even tried turning it into a sort of Instagram of all things in 2017. It was hilariously bad. Even now it has useless news feed features?? They combined codebases with Teams so it's mostly just in maintenance mode now.
They had no desire to compete with Discord and implement those kinds of community server features, probably to not pull revenue away from Microsoft Teams, but eventually it became impossible to ignore and they, still missing the point, created the failure that is Teams for Home. Finally they tried and failed to acquire Discord in 2021 for $12 billion. Skype itself was acquired for only $8.5 billion.
The only users left were the ones still using Skype for VoIP in Russia and Brazil because their local infrastructure is trash. Even that might no longer be true because they got absolutely mogged by Zoom in 2020 being free and easier to use. Even after adding Zoom's features, it hasn't helped.
>I worked at Skype after the decline.
Is it true that Microsoft changed the network architecture right after purchase so that the US government could tap the communications at the MS-run nodes?
>weird

Reminder: Discord became popular because it was objectively better than Skype.
Discord.
Value you is subjective. There is no such thing as "objective value."

Cloud is the future
frick off and die, glorified wikipedia reader.
the youtuber probably couldn't find any info on a wikipedia page someone else wrote.
What's weird about Microsoft abandoning a project?
Skype became shit when Microsoft took it over. They turned the all into a bloated Electron app and everything just became gay.
>get bought by M$
>fail
Many such cases!
glowies still use skype btw
