There is nothing left to write that is small enough in scope that one person could do it on their own. I just want to work on something cool by myself.

No one is stopping you. Do you want to learn or make lotsa monies and be homosexual famous?
99% reason anyone does FOSS is to be homosexual famous.
Sounds sad but possibly true.
Well, if learning is more important, then make whatever you want regardless if it is done another way elsewhere. The knowledge will lead you to financial freedom eventually. If money is more important, then do what you think you need to, but you will probably end up pigeon holing yourself only doing one thing over and over in order to make that money.
Perhaps you have it in you to do both, which I wish you luck if you attempt.
That said, I don't think we have much time left on Erf . . .
Literally no one I know that make FOSS is famous.
You're completely detached from reality. People build foss tools for themselves, and merely make it available for others.
99% of the population doesn't have the slightest idea what is FOSS even, this is on par on trying to become famous by being a janitor
Don't care about fame except insofar as it could get me a better job. I want to learn, but more money would also be nice.
Make a quartz USB dongle for accurate time synchronization without using NTP remote servers or satellites.
>quartz
>accurate
lel
Cheap, accurate enough.
Atomic is $3k
You do realise every computer already has a quartz oscillator in it right?
I feel like the only options left are to make an ultra-niche usb thingy with arduino and pair it with a desktop program.
I did that myself but it's so niche that it has like 40 users in the whole world, and on average they are so computer illiterate that I cannot expect any contribution to the code ever
maybe someday french slushboxes have user programmable slippage instead of 10 speed
on the contrary, i think it's harder to make something that's big and innovative. you got music streaming, game platforms like steam, video platforms, the best video editors, game engines, file managers, photo editors, etc are already out there. unless you somehow have a more powerful AI than openAI up your sleeve or a huge building full of servers at the level of microsoft then it'll be hard to make anything innovative at a big scale
for small scale stuff, it's much easier to be innovative with things that are one man projects. take distrobox for example. not taking anything away from it, it's an awesome project and it does take a lot of work. but at the end of the day, it's a bunch of shell scripts wrapped around podman/docker/etc. and yet it's a pretty big deal and gave the dev a lot of success
>best video editors, game engines, file managers, photo editors, etc are already out there
Not true at all, you can visit IQfy for like 1 day to figure out that people complain about all those things all the time, and the general consensus is that they're all bad.
>photo editor
People on Linux unironically use Gimp. Everybody agrees it's trash, but there are no good alternatives.
Professional alternatives like Photoshop are technically better but they're also subscription based proprietary trash.
>game engines
Everyone who uses any of the big game engines agrees that they all have major issues.
>file managers
The Windows file manager is trash, you have to manually refresh to see folder changes, search is awful, and it's slow as frick. There was a thread about the MacOS file launcher complaining about something as well. And on Linux everybody agrees that the Gnome filepicker is bad, see the thumbnail meme.
So it's not at all true that perfection has been achieved in any of these things. It's just that they are a lot of work and people don't want to even start.
But for example, for file managers, here's an example of a single guy who hates the Windows file managers and who's making his own from scratch: https://diskvoyager.com/
It's still a lot of work, but that's mostly because he's making it completely from scratch.
Obviously if you build on top of bad tools like Qt or something you'll get a bad end result anyway and you'll have wasted your time, but if people actually started working on high quality solutions for things like GUI we could absolutely get to a point where building a good file editor or a good simple drawing program is something that someone could do in a couple months rather than a couple years.
The game engines are probably too big tho due to all the tech expected to work on a foundation of quicksand.
Rest I agree with.
>Everyone who uses any of the big game engines agrees that they all have major issues.
Like everything else in life. Ever looked at a house?
the problem is that it is not software that carries society today, it is cloud hosted hardware.
Not true, you just have to be deep into some autistic topic. All the flashy easy ideas are gone yeah, although I suspect they didn't seem easy before they existed.
top right
IQ issue. I'm a useless NEET and get project ideas all the time. I also have a lot of stars on Github. Stars make me happy and appreciated. You just aren't creative enough.
hehe well look what I have for you anon. Didn't expect to receive a star on IQfy did ya? This ones for free but you'll have to work for the next one. *wink*
top row, middle column
What? Why not. There are many pieces of decent software to be written.
top left
>one person could do it on their own
Of course there is.
Human ears hidden is the best method.
Also your post is just cope to give yourself an excuse for inaction. Its ok for your work to not be unique
>source: Its my cope too.
there is a lot left to write, you just have to think big enough. Also anything worth writing is not worth sharing and that means that all you have to do is give it more time, working alone also means that you can employ "shitty practices" and get away with it just fine on a team you do not have that kind of freedom.
tfw have had the wrong field on for 5 posts or so
You have no idea how wrong you are.
I have so many ideas, but not nearly enough time to implement them all.
This
>AI model for generating protracker mod files
>tinder-like app for browsing and saving new images posted on boorus/pixiv
>danmaku engine
>fancy website for looking up and learning similar looking kanji and their composition
>meme meta game that manipulates window decorations and "leaks" to desktop
>fully customizable and modular home page which source code(TS+React) can be edited in real time on the same page
So many ideas, so little time to invest.
You sound like a moronic phoneposter.
Wrong.
The IQ barrier has just been raised up. All the projects that could've been done solo by someone under 120IQ are gone.
>There is nothing left to write that is small enough in scope that one person under 120IQ could do it on their own.
Ftfy.
>I just want to work on something cool by myself.
Be born 10 years earlier, before the industry and hobby was completely saturated.
There's ton of things that substantially increase people's quality of life and take mere hours to design and finish. The trouble is they're not exciting or interesting, they're simply applying what you already know in the context of your buddy's problem. Nobody wants to help them out so they'll spend half of their working day doing mundane shit like clicking and copy-pasting row after row because nobody with capability to automate it ever shows up.
What's important to note is of course if you do end up helping someone by essentially writing stuff that does their work for them, is make sure they never tell their boss or coworkers about it or all the benefits only flow to the israelite and your friend is only rewarded with more work. Ideally they'll ne working remotely, fricking their wife while the script is 'working' the whole day.
Why do RWBY Black folk ruin everything?
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T DRAW FANTASY
>NOOOOO IT MUST BE PHYSIOLOGICALLY CORRECT
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T DRAW CUTE GIRLS OR WOMEN
Stop getting offended by the opinions of random unknown people. They can think that if they will
>They can think that if they will
So can I and you're so fricking hurt over it.
You saying that won't make it so. In fact I don't care what either of you think
>Basically: Nuh-uh! I'm not mad!
Why are you homosexuals so childish?
Just work on something useful for yourself.
Autist sperged out over an opinion on how trash RWBY is
lel
funny pic
cat ears on side + hidden?
a bit sloppy, but here:
cutye
cute goblin
this is big gae and homosexualy, nobody cares about anatomical correctness within the context of cute anime girls, just look at any bishojo or shonen anime lmfao. next he's going to make the tail come out of the tailbone like some dumb homosexual moron
I like the 4D hearing version but all the first 3 are ok
There's no such thing as the scope being too big for one person. It's all a matter of skill and how much time you're willing to dedicate to it.
Just make a minecraft datapack
I've got too much on my plate that I want/need to write so that I sometimes fall into paralysis, not knowing what to do next. But I know what I want the software to do, so that drives me.
I'm also a midwit and to be less foolish I learned what to avoid, so my productivity can be surprisingly high.
>There is nothing left to write...
Is this website perfect? If not, then that's something to do.
I would love a software that takes stuff random lines of any number of selectable txt files, and gives an output giving the chance to add between a txt random line and another stunner other words or conditions.
i.e. rndtxtq + junction text 1+ rndtxt2 + junction text2 etc etc, add allows for a modifiable output.
it's not too hard to do, but there's nothing like it around.
yeah it's not like something like this basically does 99% of what you need or anything https://github.com/NingMiao/CGMH
doesn't seem to be useful in this case? also send needlessly convoluted too
