Your Samsung will still be able to install new apps, the phones Apple dropped support are essentially dead.

Most apps still only require iOS 11 or newer. It's only Apple's built-in shit that you miss out on.

It's too bad I love my SE 1st gen and IOS 15 still runs very well on it.
Probably upgrade to some 12 mini when support drop.
2016 to 2023 it was a good run.

Same here. Love that little phone. Hopefully Apple continues to push security updates to iOS 15 like they did with iOS 12 (the last version to have devices left behind)

It's not shilling when it's true. Android is a million times better than iOS and and Apple is always trying to keep up. LineageOS on the phone, Gentoo on the desktop. I am freer and better off than you iToddlers in ever way.

It's not only Apple's first party apps, banking and enterprise apps will stop working in a year or two.

The main problem is, even if you avoid using the apps, websites will eventually not work properly because your browser will be forced to use old Webkit versions that are baked into the OS. Updating the browser doesn't update the engine. That's why iPhones are good but not the best for longevity, even the oldest Galaxy phones can run the newest Firefox and everything works fine.

On Android, apps are separate from the OS. All these new messaging features in iOS 16 basically mean you can't text anymore on iOS 15 or earlier. On Android, they'd backport the features.

Well, I think enough people still use the X that Apple will support it for many more years.

Apple doesn't give a shit how many people use a device. Most of the features of iOS 15 were locked to A12 and above, which meant the X couldn't use them. They'll drop it next year or 2024.

Home button + reasonable size. Just werks. The home button makes buck toothed guys with acne and apple T shirts seethe. The lack of a headphone jack makes fat linux users with CP folders seethe. It's perfect.

If you use your phone for anything but calls, texts, facetime, and email you're probably a virgin. I will consider my iPhone dead when facetime stops working or 4G is shut down.

Apple doesn't activate iOS 9 on the 6s series anymore. It's known in the jailbreak community.

I have an SE on iOS 9. because it's rare these days I got asked by a dev; he wanted the activation records from my phone, trying to work on a solution for this problem.

Why? I turned on my old iMac G4 earlier and software update worked in both Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard (2005, 2007)

          >why
We don't know if it was intentional or a bug. iOS 9 just doesn't activate on the 6s anymore. Older phones still do though.

iOS 9 isn't signed for the 6S anymore. It is signed for the 4S and a few iPads.

iOS 10/11/12/13/14 aren't signed on the 6s either but you can still activate a 6s with them.

No. If anything, go for the SE3, that way you only loose two of the three.

So they'll plug three exploits and the rest they'll pretend don't exist. Same pile of shit riddled with flaws as usual.

Why can they not support the old phones with iOS 16 when it literally has no new features, its exactly the same as iOS 15.
