That only became possible after elogind was created to substitute for the dependency. Maybe read a little about this shit before you come here pretending to be moronic.

It might be technically correct but it's incredibly unconvincing. Surely you have an example of software that hard-depends on systemd in the current year? If not then I assume it's no longer an issue.

The funniest thing of all is that anti-systemd schizos would not run GNOME anyway.

You can also use ConsoleKit. But it's been abandoned for years now and it's just more convenient to use elogind.
Despite widespread belief, GNOME never had a hard dependency on systemd. It only requires a session tracker, which does not have to be logind.

you haven't code a single useful line in c besides printf.
shut the frick up if you want to do something make your own language init systemd and display manager in fricking asssembly and waste your life Black person. us will move forward with modern os, not stuk in the 80s which btw, you didnt live trough OP, you are a 2004 kid

> systemd is just an init system
Imagine saying or believing that in Current Year
Then don't use them
Part of how systemd is ruining foss is by making itself a dependency when it shouldn't be or katamari'ing up other projects. It is like a virus.
Why do other projects use it?
Name a single project that added a mandatory systemd dependency. Name a single project that it katamaried up.
You mean the only reason one would like openrc is because they have stockholm syndrome.

How do you "make yourself a dependency" of other projects?
lmao
By forcing your redhat buddies over at gnome to do it
Also webdev, redhat, google, and general socjus bigotry.
also correct
indian
how exactly?
adapt or die boomer
progress is a thing
These three things are regressions, not progression
not him but how is rust a regression
you haven't code a single useful line in c besides printf.

sepples with a borrow checker is still sepples, hence still a regression from C
C++ is a strict progression from C.
unironically what is the problem with systemd
Too heavy for his T60.
you probably have a retro rice like but you convinced yourself you totally aren't drive by nostalgia
The only reason one would like systemd is because they have stockholm syndrome
I like Wayland and Rust.
umm sweetie, wayland is a protocol. what implementation of wayland are you talking about ? please educate yourself before posting 😉
>umm sweetie, wayland is a protocol.
Yes, and?
what the actual frick
systemd is great and you're a moronic boomer sysadmin if you can't understand why
if he were a real sysadmin he would have understood
systemd is the best thing that happened to linux in the 10s
t. brainfried zoomies
willing to bet 98% of the people who shit on systemd on IQfy have never interacted with it in any meaningful sense
correct
> new bad
> old good
AND?
Okay, I'll bite.
How the frick is Rust ruining FOSS?
