They are really overrated? I bought all the first 5 books 9 years ago but never finished the first one because I'm a short spam zoomer who spend most of my time on the internet and playing video games

I got to 'feast for crows' and gave up.
same the first one is fricking kino tho
Isn't it kind of common knowledge he wrote the first one, and it was decent, then he was forced to write the other ones to milk the series and it went to shit?
Way to have a nice day in the foot with your own success.
>Isn't it kind of common knowledge he wrote the first one, and it was decent, then he was forced to write the other ones to milk the series and it went to shit?
He originally had a trilogy in mind and that's why the story peaked with CoK and gets more muddled and convoluted as it rolls along. It's also the reason he can't finish it--he's good at world-building and let himself get carried away with it. I've never played D&D or anything of that sort but I'm guessing people who do have experienced a Storyteller (guy running the game) getting carried away and making their mission or goal too elaborate--its probably the literary equivalent of that.
the third one is the clear peak, I don't know why you mentioned CoK, which is the weakest of the first three. Book 5 has some great moments too, it's only book 4 that sucked.
first three are great, rest are dogshit but you're invested in the characters so they're bearable
don't fall for the tv series, it's not as grand in scale
A Dance With Dragons has some based moments, the north remembers is kino
The northern chapters really saved Dance from being a bore didn't it almost every northern chapter was almost 10/10 I think the only thing I remotely cared about on the Essos side was Tyrion's chapters because of the mystery and intrigue of Aegon.
I've read the first book and I it was not perfect. It's too serious for fantasy and too fantasic for classical knight adventure literature.
I re-read the first three recently and honestly I think they're great. The plot is unpredictable and the characters are great. I haven't got around to books 4 and 5 yet but I remember them being much less focused.
>Blow through the books, the action and plots start to ramp up, multiple plotlines are converging
>Slam into a brick wall with a Daenerys chapter sucking the wind right of the sails
I dropped the first two books three times each before I finally finished them because of how boring her chapters were.
he b***hed about muh taxes in Lord of the Rings, but at least Tolkien was able to focus and develop his apparent plot instead of getting tangled up in how many tasty dicks Galadriel sucked every 2nd breakfast. No seriously, After ASOS it becomes incredibly clear how poorly disciplined GRRM really is with long stories and how little he wants to even do them. Shame really, his older work is better.
Oh and he lets his hardcore misogynist out every time and can't help it, same as every male feminists ever does. I ain't even mad about it.
It would help if she never punished her dragons and actually aspired to be a Dragon Queen. Reality is shit just happens around her and she goes with it. Funny thing? Show Dany's genocide plan is the right one, attempting to negotiate or be peaceful with any polity under the influence of the Maester/Faith is completely pointless. Its what got the Targaryen's kingdom ripped from them after the dragons were taken from them.
Just burn it all down and never even entertain anything else to do with anything or anyone from Old Town. And all the ingredients are there. Everyone coming from Westeros to talk to her could help paint this picture of how deep and pervasive the problem is and how the best solution for Dany and any future dragon riders is the complete destruction and replacement of the entire system, ever Maester and ever 'priest' of the Faith must be eradicated. All of it must be destroyed, root and stem.
So honestly, why even STOP the Walkers from marching?
i liked 1 and 3, gave up halfway through 4
>because I'm a short spam zoomer who spend most of my time on the internet and playing video games
Why do you care then? Reading is not for you. Just watch the show.
not that anon but i can't even finish shows or anime anymore. scrolling and refreshing the internet is too comfortable
I you wanna read Gurm do yourself a favor and just read Fevre Dream
The first three are unquestionably great. But then it became clear he had no idea how to finish. AFFC and ADWD have some great scenes, but the overall pace is gone. He keeps introducing new plots with no clue how to resolve the existing ones. We're never gonna get a conclusion, so don't get your hopes up. Enjoy the ride of the first three, skim the last two for some kino scenes, but don't expect resolution. Just make up your own head canon.
They’re soooo overrated man, don’t waste your time. Read a based and Christpilled tradcath writer like Tolkien instead. It’ll be better for your mind and soul:
False flag schizo.
I love all the 5 books and the serie in general.
