It's not. It's a couple hundred pages of an edge lord being a cynical butthole for no reason, bothering women, blowing spaghetti out of his pockets when he actually meets a girl that likes him, won't even frick a prostitute but still pays him, let's a former teacher almost molest him then feels bad for the teacher after, plans on leaving and starting a new life, but changes his mind like a b***h after a 5 minute conversation with his kid sister. Holden is the epitome of failure.
>nothing important happens!
I dont believe in book banning. There is nothing controversial about the book. Maybe in 1951 it was seen that way. It's just a shit book not entertaining. It's one step higher than Tolkien in terms of the "fall asleep while reading" factor.

>It's just a shit book not entertaining
> judges a book by whether it's entertaining
Sorry there were no scenes of flaming swords and flying unicorns, anon
I think the ending of the book is what I hate most. It just abruptly ends in a very anticlimactic way. >I'm leaving to get a fresh start >waaaahh no you aren't unless you take me >s-s-sorry never mind I'm not leaving I was just kidding
Book ends.

>cynical bordeline suicidal whiny teenager gets saved by the love he has for his kid sister
Based tbh
I didn't dislike the book itself. Holden is of course pretty pitiful and frustrating at times, but the book itself isn't. it has a good tone about it. the romance bits with Phoebe cement it as a masterpiece.
very israeli subversive book subtextually about being molested but overtly about a kid that flunks out of school and wanders around NYC by himself but it was added to the high school curriculum nationwide upon release, there are no admirable traits or lessons for teenagers in this book
It should be read by every man, imo. Any man that says they have never felt like Holden at one point in their life is either lying or soulless. No in between. Holden's a b***h but we've all been a b***h at some point in our life, most likely when we were whiny teenagers. Fricking midwits shitting up this board, man
Lit for brainwashed slaveglowies
no, you suck
>fat guy and prostitute try stealing his $5
>he starts crying
why didn't he just punch the fat c**t in the jaw?
The entire book reads like it's following your average IQfy poster through life.
Why is he such a stupid loser? Grow up some balls and figure your shit out, it ain't that hard.
This book is like literary porn for kids who got bullied in school.

This. Holden is a whiney, insufferable b***h and the book sucked my dick. There's literally no point to it.
That book fricking rules. It's a masterpiece. Simple as.

It's pretty good.
Holden is the first genuine character ever created
