This feels like something a politically-obsessed grant-funded university would come up with because svn made too much sense.

the concept of git is brilliant the way you are forced to use it is not. It is zenith devjeeting to sit and frick with branches and pulling and pushing to a repo rebasing because now you're on the wrong branch. Any time I see someone fricking with git it is 100% indistinguishable from the openstack or kubernetes midwit trap.

        jeets seething
imagine thinking devjeeting or IT isn't something to be looked down upon. You would be hard filtered in any field that legitimately takes years of study to grasp. Your tools can be learned in short order by nonjeets, they are hilariously inane.

Devshitters are the modern skilled construction laborer nothing more. Do not reply to me swarthy brainlets.

are you employed at Google or Amazon? These are the only two companies where kubernetes makes sense.

    Git is OK in principle.
It's just that its UI is abysmal.
Literally everything is wrong about it, starting with something as basic as naming things correctly.

git was built to deal with the growing pains of maintaining the linux kernel.
Every clone is a full copy of the repo by default, a branch is a pointer to a commit hash instead of another copy of the repo.
Easy things are easy, complicated things are also complicated.

All git user problems are invariably PEBCAKS, morons who couldn't even be bothered to read the official docs.

svn was so much better that git eventually destroyed it in market share despite svn having more momentum and industry backing

Well, it is true that Git's a bit convoluted, and people don't spend nearly enough time learning about it even though it does tons of useful things. Mercurial used to be a great option if you had simpler needs, but it's basically dead now because everyone just uses Git.
