Do you have a source on that?

        Source?

        A source. I need a source.

Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

Do you have a degree in that field?

A college degree? In that field?

        Then your arguments are invalid.

No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation.

        Correlation does not equal causation.

        CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION.

You still haven't provided me a valid source yet.

        Nope, still haven't.

I just looked through all 308 pages of your user history, figures I'm debating a glormpf supporter. A moron.

Hardly. The proof of any theory is in the experimental evidence. That is rightfully the gold standard of proof. Many seemingly theories and plans, which seemed beautiful and perfect on paper, have fallen to the ground when they were put to the experimental test.

          Early life[edit]
Žižek was born in Ljubljana, PR Slovenia, Yugoslavia, into a middle-class family.[21] His father Jože Žižek was an economist and civil servant from the region of Prekmurje in eastern Slovenia. His mother Vesna, a native of the Gorizia Hills in the Slovenian Littoral, was an accountant in a state enterprise. His parents were atheists.[22] He spent most of his childhood in the coastal town of Portorož, where he was exposed to Western film, theory and popular culture.[3][23] When Slavoj was a teenager his family moved back to Ljubljana where he attended Bežigrad High School.[23] Originally wanting to become a filmmaker himself, he abandoned these ambitions and chose to pursue philosophy instead.[24]

He's right, but not for the reasons he thinks.

To be a nihilist, to want to return to nothing, to say that nothing is true, you must accept that everything came from nothing, creation ex nihilo.

All morals that atheists have are fading holdovers from Christian morality, held irrationally despite belief in nothing. People who cannot silence their conscience eventually return to Christ.

My morals come from observation not Christianity. Christianity came to the same conclusions because those who write the stories saw it too and needed a way to order everyone into following it in a time of before science for their own benefit. Just because we ultimately don't need the religion anymore to organise ourselves, doesn't make its teachings any less true.

Exactly what he says. Atheism is in effect if not by stated definition a negation of Abrahamic monotheism. The atheism of the Greeks in relation to the gods of the pantheon and so on was not the same thing because the nature of the religion is different.

      >the only people filtered by Zizek are contrarian twitter posters (complete wastes of time), normies and American Catholics.

I don't necessarily agree with him, but I think he's a smart writer. His writings on the subject of Christianity, in particular, are often quite interesting. I recall coming across some remarks he made on the filioque and being surprised by how knowledgeable he was on the subject, and how thoughtful and insightful his analysis was. So what is it about Zizek that American Catholics are supposedly filtered by? I find that his status as a fallen away Catholic often informs his writing, and gives it an interesting edge and a certain piquant flavor.

His statements are all just pseudo-questions meant to force others to do the hard thinking.
Hoping one of those questions will eventually stick with someone and grant him a response "aha! So by this you meant [something profound]!", in which case Zizek would gladly take the opportunity "Why yes, that is exactly what I meant, this [something profound] was indeed my creative genius exclusively."
