How else will they make you buy A new system.
They cannot let you have the hardware as is, no that's "insecure".

I'm just blown away at how much the performance dropped, is there some sick mitigation they baked into the new firmware? Because I don't know how anyone could defend Intel in the Coffee Lake era and actually pay big money for this shit, I just bought a used chip and board on the cheap.

It's spectre mitigations. I disable all that doodoo. I want my CPU running at the speed I paid for. NSA already knows what I fap to.

God this is bullshit, I can't even revert, I downloaded the F2 bios from feb 2018 I had, but it won't let me revert it.

Also frick Intel, the performance of my shitty old AMD rig dropped 2.5% in Cinebench R15 when I moved to Windows 10 2H22 from 7 last year

How do you disable it??? It's not like there is a setting in the bios to enable/disable this...

don't cheap out on motherboard next time

      Anonymous

It's not too cheap, It's a homiebyte B360 with a 65w i7 in it, the thing sustains 4Ghz all core all day long by itself, it's just now it's performing like it's single core score of 187 times 6 cores and hyperthreading doesn't exist because intel doesn't know how to make anything without security flaws.

I'm literally getting cheated out of performance Anon, how do you explain my previous scores from the original 2018 F2 BIOS? Even the multi core speedup is reduced as if it was a CPU without hyperthreading, the score went from a 6.53x scale to a damn near a perfect 6x multiplication of the single thread score.

It's basically performing like it doesn't have hyperthreading anymore after I updated the bios.

Disable Spectre/Meltdown protection, disable Core Isolation.
I have a powershell script for spectre but I'm not on my machine right now.
Also make sure your cpu min and max power is at 100% in power settings.

          Anonymous

She's running full blast and everything Anon, nothing has changed from what I was doing previously, even the single thread is still good on it, but the whole point of a 12 thread CPU over an i5 is the speedup you get, and I'm on an updated 10 2H22, I'll just deal with Intel's stupidity, it's my first Intel since the Q6600, and it is technically faster and uses less energy than what I had previously, but my god is Coffee Lake a shit show, I was out of the PC building loop for years, but holy shit, luckily I threw together this rig for nothing, I couldn't imagine building a coffee lake meme computer back in 2018 when cards were threw the roof, RAM was $300 a 16 gig kit, and there's security flaws.

Would this even do anything? I'm on the same OS I was that had updates for when the spectre was a thing, even my craptastic AMD CPU from 2011 took a slight performance hit, so there were mitigations, but it didn't tank the performance to hell, it has to be baked into the bios to perform worse.
