The culture doesn't encourage art and creative works (rather people interested in art are looked down upon) and you rarely find people with genuine interest in any creative field. Contrary to this STEM might be "encouraged" by the masses but it is only for the money and people with actual interest will almost certainly leave the country for better opportunities. The very idea of spending leisure time to improve skills outside your job is absurd and makes you ostracized unless you find like minded people. Finding game developers in such a culture is a miracle and since there are no game companies here they can either seek employment abroad or wageslave in a regular tech company. Since game dev is insanely complicated with knowledge of various domains the average person in tech would be highly incompetent as the education here is a joke.
