You should be thankful that desktop Linux now has another big corporation behind it but also isnt Red Hat which is owned by publicly traded company
Valve is funding so many different Linux projects. Even ARM related ones

its cool but I can't set up Linux to even output my temperature in a widget or control my laptops fan. it also nuked my boot sector when I installed it and I had to restore it for several hours to boot back to windows
things like this shouldnt happen if Linux is to actually compete
>it also nuked my boot sector when I installed it
you were dualbooting?
yes and I'll never not dualboot till these issues exist
then it was windows that destroyed your boot sector, lol
no.
mint installer resized it poorly and fricked everything. cause I chose the "let the installer do its job"
it fricking didn't.
>can't even ask chat-gpt to do partitioning for him
the very fricking point I'm trying to make that goes over your head, is till Linux learns to "just werk" its never going to have any part in anything to do with users.
if the installer fricks your entire computer and you have to do it manually, its not fricking ready
frick off shit software apologist. fix your software.
Good Linux GUI is a myth. If you aren't comfortable with the command line and scripting, you are better off just working around whatever issues you have with Windows. This isn't some jab towards you; only pseuds think using CLI is a mark of intelligence and Bash is kiddy string shit and quite mediocre compared to Powershell.
its not even about gui, these issues I can't solve with cli either
apparently a simple fan controller can't bebdone on linux. at least not for my computer for some reason
you are a moronic noob
linux will never be for you so stop wasting everyone's time including yours
no frick you I will fight it
sounds like a skill issue then
why dont you start browsing tiktok? Might be more suitable place for you
just use arch
If valve brought back steam box with steam deck improvements I would buy one.
Valve should invest in $GACHI
I agree, and I'm extremely grateful for what Valve has done for linux.
They are the sole reason I'm using linux exclusively full time now.
this, nice trips. frick the shartifact guy. I don't miss fglrx at all.
>SteamVR-for-Linux is abandonware
until they close their shit up, become greedy like rhel
they don't even have a repo for steam os 3, so they are already on their way of becoming detrimental to oss
>ARM
Guess Valve are hedging their bets with the possibility of an ARM powered deck. Pity they arn't funding RISC-V tho
red hat is a multi-billion dollar company, valce doesn't effect them. but Linux shouldn't need any of them if Linux foundation wasn't a scam and actually invested in Linux.
The problem is that Linux is mostly a free cobbled together system made by nerds in their spare time. Which means a single part or code base can languish for a decade+ because some frick absolutely hates the idea of the average person not having to jump through hoops to do something.
This has been alleviated a lot by people coming in to make shit that actually works the way a sane human would want it too.
wrong, everything relevant in linux is done by corporations and their employees.
I am thankful. Thanks based Gaben.
>posted from my Steam Deck
I wish they made a DE to compete with GNOME. I can't pirate a good DE on Linux.
i hope valve succeeds in moving all gamers from windows to linux.
literally just reinstalled Linux on my desktop gaming PC today after using Windows for years
I want to use it for everything but for a long time its been difficult
Still games like Fornite that have the invasive anti cheat that crashes the game as soon as you land when you run it in Wine on Linux
