Video Editing

What's your Video Editing software of choice and why do you use it? I use Vegas Pro it's design is outdated, but it's the one I learned to use back in 2013

I switched from Premiere to Resolve. I still miss some premiere stuff, but Resolve does the stuff I need it to, and honestly I'd rather do a one-time purchase for the studio version if I really need it than a monthly purchase to use premiere legally (now that they started cracking on pirated apps).
Honestly? Going from Adobe to Affinity and Resolve has been great so far. Sure, Adobe is still the king and I get why, but I'm not a pro, it's just a hobby

Me too, I use Vegas. Would you reckon it's an okay program for a hobbyist?

I haven't used vegas since 2015, but it's honestly personal preference for me. If it works for you, then great! There were a couple of things that I really disliked about vegas back then, like how you had to be really precise to put the timeline cursor thing in a specific place instead of scrobbling around, etc.
Dunno if they changed that. Still, yeah, as long as you like it, keep using it! Just don't get in trouble for sharing works for commercial purposes with a pirated copy

To be honest, It's still outdated, sometimes the text doesn't change font since VP11 or the paint cursor can be broken so you'll have to restart

I don't share commercial purposes type works, It's just passion projects that I get 0 money from

What the frick, I can get in trouble? I've been using cracked versions of Vegas for years for all kind of professional video editing stuff, even for my fricking city kek

kek, you can technically get in trouble if sony or whoever sues you, you should probably get a license or something in case you get caught
though tbh, you most likely won't

the biggest troubles usually happen with DAWs, very expensive pro software (for example, I know someone who got in trouble with Maya, the 3D software), etc.

I used to use Vegas because that's what everyone used back in the days
But now I switched to davinci resolve and didn't look back. It's free too so you don't even have to pirate it

I personally can't move to Premiere or Davinci cause I'm so used to Vegas flow and the drag and drop being so much easier, What would you recommend me to do?

I just edit Porn and Memes

When you first start davinci resolve, it let's you pick what kind of UI you want, and I think there's a Vegas UI too

Ah cool, pretty cool of Davinci to do. I'm currently in the middle of an edit I'm not sure if I want to switch.

The thing is with Vegas for the things I want to do it's so fast and easy, but I also want to adapt to a new editing program since Vegas will remain outdated and the same

used to be head of post production at a major television studio and have my own VFX company now, started on Avid, went to Premiere and now stuck on BM Davinci. Its far superior in almost all the ways, one thing I've noticed that it's picky with alpha video and premultiply modes, which is easily resolved with png or tiff sequences instead. It's the most stable and considering semi or professional use it's also miraculously the most affordable solution. Also the free version is great.

How did you start on Avid and go back to premiere?

that was when I wasn't head and had to do what my former boss said. Mind you this was years ago, when Premiere had even more issues than these days and avid still looked like windows 95

Isn't Avid more difficult to get through than Premiere?

If you're already using something just keep using it cause it will be a huge pain to switch. If you have money get all the adobe shit, else go with resolve
