Witty retorts that succinctly deal a killing blow to the ideas contained in these texts. Even Hitchens would admire your words.
I have a lot of time for antinatalism. I believe the arguments to be quite compelling when considered as a form of the repugnant conclusion. Why should a child be born into suffering with a litany of genetic conditions, all because its parents wanted a child? I accept Benetar's asymmetry argument. It is better for no concious experience to take place, than to hope that the 'good' in life outweighs the 'bad'.
What I find infuriating though are vegans, who use almost the exact same logic, believing that no matter now nice a life a cow has it is wrong to drink it's milk, who then go on to have children of their own.
Having read all 3 books, I understand the pseudo intellectual label that I receive (which really applies to most dilitants of philosophy), but these inconsistent vegans truly are the most deluded sheep to walk this earth.
>oh no how dare anyone suggest that the very foundation of humanity might be fricked up and inherently destructive! that makes me uncomfortable! better dismiss it right away!
Bingo bango, son. Notice I'm not telling you to have a nice day, or that your axiological position is wrong. That should tell you something. That should tell you something about the road you're on, and where its going to take you.
Of course your kids and all of the subsequent generations are going to suffer. No way around it. I'm not here to pretend that suffering is some intrinsic character builder or any of that bullshit. I'm here to say that something bigger than you has a gun to your head, and if you don't dance for the blood god and give him his sacrifice, its going to get much worse for you.
The truth sucks, but trust me, this is the end road to years of pessimism and antinatalism. We're controlled by forces we will never understand, but they need us to keep adding to the sacrifice. I have no idea why, but I only found peace when I stopped arguing with it.
Zapffe erred when he said the forces must be blind. They're not. Nature knows exactly what its doing. Trying to "work it out" ends in strife. Get to reproducing now for your own sake.
What do antinatalists do about how not making more humans won't do shit about there being fricktons of animals reproducing, and likely living lives with far more physical suffering than your average humans? And that killing off the human race in fact is dooming everyone to just press the evolutionary reset button to whatever shitty lives the remaining life forms have, removing the cushy easy mode of human being, one that they can't even handle?
They don't do anything because they're not sincere believers of the nonsense they spout. They're just hoping that by saying certain words in a certain order, that they can convince people they don't like not to reproduce, leaving more resources (social opportunities, land, raw materials, etc) for their own tribe.
It's basically advertising. They don't expect to convince 100% of everyone else. But if they can convince a small fraction of people to fall for it, that's thousands and thousands of less competitors in the next generation.
Part of me wishes that Infinite Jest wasn't just a meme because I love it. But if it wasn't a meme there's almost no chance I'd have known it even existed.
>only above average IQ book-reading intellectual types would read these books >they get convinced to become genetic deadends >iq goes down as a result, western civilization falls and only illiterate savages are left
people will always keep having sex, and the lower the iq the more likely to have more sex and children.
Books like this only strengthen the trend of high iq people not having kids and dying off while low iq people are unaffected by them. These books are pure evil incarnate.
More like rational consideration leads to anti-darwinian behavior. Nature is selecting against intelligence. It gets too high, and you get Japan and South Korea. Low intelligence gives you the breeding habits of Africa. Obviously consciousness wants to be shaved down a bit. Can't fight nature.

No, that's his master Silenus who is known for The Dark Wisdom of Silenus which gave to Midas.
Why does this type of anti-natalistic pessimism make anons sperg out so much? It's not they're telling you to have a nice day. In fact most would affirm that life has to be fully lived completely with full intent of achieving full potentiality of yourself. it just posits that nothingness or nonbeing is ideal. In fact life becomes all the more bearable knowing that it is what awaits you. Compared to the theosophist view of the afterlife (most people will suffer in eternal damnation), I find it to be quite an uplifting view. Obviously if all you take out of it is that you shouldn't have kids, you'd be entirely right in dismissing it, but it barely posits that at all if read correctly.

Subjectivity deluding itself into believing that it represents objectivity. In other words, philosophical pessimism.

I'm actually thinking about getting the Benatar one soon, what am I in for?
a pussy complaining about how life sucks but he loves life way too much to die
are there even antinatalists that don't sound like that?
No. That's their entire position.
Life sucks but I don't kill myself yet because I don't want to make it suck even more for the people that depend on me.
>oh no how dare anyone suggest that the very foundation of humanity might be fricked up and inherently destructive! that makes me uncomfortable! better dismiss it right away!
replace the middle with schopenhauer
The answer to antinatalism is that the flaming sword burns your hand eventually. Can the righteousness and just reproduce like everybody else.

You commonly see the argument that we must reproduce to appease some unknown cosmic force in atheist circles?
i just think you write like a gay.
Fair enough.

Not fair to put Cioran in that camp imo, in his own words hes "just a joker."
Schopenhauer - Mainlãnder - Cioran is the real trilogy.
