Smartphones have better cams. You can use your old smartphone as a camera for desktop.

Photo? Any DSLR from a real brand like Canon will do. Video? Any camcorder from a real brand like Sony and Panasonic will do. Things get real samey but real good when you bump up to spending four digits on a camera, but that's probably outside of the use case here.

You're buying the wrong product. Webcams are for telecommuting shit. If you look at successful streamers and podcasters etc, they use actual cameras not webcams

The current high tech ones are miniaturized with extremely good quality. They are obfuscated and not available to the public - but they are all around you currently.

But look up how big the cameras are for your phone. Without bolting on more motherboard, they can be the size of a big pinhole.

Camera quality isn't limited by sensors, but by lens and processing. You can fix processing on your own, but the lens is the lens, it defines the input before it even reaches the sensor. Better to buy an older mirrorless camera and use that instead
the shite compression and sensor is the issue here though, it's visible that most just use mjpeg. disabling processing of photos on your phone looks better than it ruining it with sharpening and denoising
test the camera through your OS and not through zoom or whatever you are using. i believe the program you use downscale image quality
