Well the entire fricking West you dumbarse. Just because we don't have an Athens 2™, that doesn't mean that enlightenment philosophy and whatever fricking things developed after aren't great philosophical achievements. Or did the Greeks invent 3 major ideologies in 200 years?

The Greeks we're a very literary society. Their literary achievements really did not have a match until the Renaissance and for some reason 18th and 19th century Anglos wrote incredibly as well.

You will never understand how disappointing this is for me. Even if I did make it into the special forces the US government would never let me disrobe, wear nothing but a lions skin, and charge into combat with nothing but a club. Fascists.

A good case can be made for it.

    Aesthetics - yes 10/10
    Philosophy - yes 10/10
Mathematics - one of the best (they borrowed alot and had fierce competition from other civs in this area) at least 8-9/10
    Warfare/military - 7/10

It was certainly the peak of the old world. “Captive Greece captured her rude conqueror and introduced her arts to the crude Latin lands” - Roman poet Horace.

Greek intellectual, philosophical and aesthetic culture were adopted by Romans, preserved by Muslims and fuelled the European renaissance and dawn of the scientific golden age. Greeks owe a lot to them for preserving the culture so well or it may have been lost to time.

      > “Captive Greece captured her rude conqueror and introduced her arts to the crude Latin lands”
This is a meme phrase spouted by a man who lived nearly 200 years removed from the process of Roman and Greek culture mixing. He didn't know shit.
      >Greek intellectual, philosophical
No, for the most part. Romans only latched onto the philosophy which already agreed with their cultrual values, hence why Stoicism was so popular.
      >aesthetic
