a book about failure and shame and feeling hollow inside and being unable to relate to others and hating yourself and substance abuse. basically my diary
mid book about some loser dude who deserves little empathy due to being an inssuferable whiner.
it's an easy read. dazai is a whiney b***h. he lumls in his serious heartaches with the pettiest little grievences with world and seems to give equal weight to both so i had a hard time taking him seriously. it's similar to elliot rodgers book but far more pleasant because dazai didn't feel the need to include every detail of his life. no reason not to read it since it's so short but when you get to confessions of a mask you'll see how much better it could have been.
He begins by admitting he is a chronic liar, then proceeds to recount his life.
And if that is not really a correct recollection, it's because the book was so fricking boring I can hardly remember it.

it's a basically the journal of a man who is very paranoid, doesn't like human beings, and gets into very strange relationships with multiple different women
well written though and quite engaging, so I'd say it's worth a read
sort of unserious guy who has ZERO face because he resorts to being funny
this decision and his being molested lay the tracks for a fricked up life
