It's the newbie poster boy, why do these zoomer newhomosexualS not even have any character my first camus was the plague and I'm so glad I chose it looking back, the strangers gay
It's always been discussed because it's one of those babby's first book type of books. It's also one of those books whose ideas are so commonplace nowadays that it's hard to grasp what a big deal the whole existentialism movement was for Western culture. The first sentence is also immortal, especially in French. What stuck out most to me however is the part where Meursault's in prison and the first thing he says is "it's crazy how quickly you can get used to things" or something to that effect. It's a good little book.
We read excerpts from The Stranger in French class when I was 15 or something and when I got into philosophy a few years later, The Myth of Sisyphus is one of the first texts you'll read in all likelihood. He's a good entry point, less obtuse than Sartre, whose philosophy is just mindless drivel and no one can convince me otherwise.
Yeah, I know. Fine for a teen or a redditor but we sure as hell don’t need so many threads on this board.

Agreed, but boards like this by their nature attract lots of newbies. Just like how IQfy is full of people asking the most basic questions about nutrition and exercise.
Camus+Aristotle is everything you need for morals and nearly everything you need for figuring out "existential philosophy".
Aristotle+Husserl+Camus+Mounier+Merleau-Ponty is everything you need full stop.
It’s about a man completely disenfranchised from society who is only going through the motions. It isn’t very deep. Even during his impending death he is just like “yeah huhhhh”
Why is there a thread about this book every day now, when no one has anything interesting to say about it?

It's very easy to read (at least in french) compared to the other classics.
Camus is a complete non-entity. There is nothing to say about him.

People are strange
when you're a stranger
sunglasses save lives
why didnt he just claim self defense lol like the guy even had a knife drawn how hard is it
Maybe he wanted to die because life is so meaningless. Whoa…
It is a book for teenagers who have stumbled upon the fear of dying for the first time.
Sisyphus is his weakest text he shouldn't have bothered writing it. If you're thinking of reading it just skip to The Rebel or have a nice day.
Found the ghetto teen
Remember to cry at your mother's funeral.
No, seriously, why is it that people bring up The Stranger when discussing Camus, while The Plague is a much better book imo.
