yes. unless you really like shooting guns or fighting with swords, racing/flying is the top tier VR entertainment.
t. hundreds of hours in Elite Dangerous on HTC Vive
Is a HOTAS necessary for Elite Dangerous? I have a VR headset and have been wanting to get into Elite Dangerous but didn't want to try playing in VR on mouse and keyboard and idk if an xbox controller would be enough.
You can play with a controller but there's a LOT of buttons to map. Each trigger will need to be a modifier switch, and every face button dependent on them. That also means a high learning curve, but it's not the worst.
Warping up to stars is ominous in VR, cosmic scale really hits you.

I played with K&M because I don't have a hotas but I wish I had considering the time I've sunk. The tactile indicators (bumps) on F and J key were a godsend and even then I had to peek out my helmet for certain keybinds in more awkward keys.

pointef out, a controller is doable but the amount of keybinds is insane. IMO only recommended if you onow what you're doing and going for a specific task only, e.g. exploration where you never need to open your cargo bay and such.
I would say unless you're dead broke get one of the cheapo Hotas for $50-ish, Elite Dangerous definitely hits different in VR.
Protip, travel to a supergiant and open up system map. Bring tissues!
It isn't strictly necessary but you'll thank yourself for it thanks to the amount of binds and the "feel" of using a stick. Even a single shitty Logitech extreme 3D pro + keyboard is a better control scheme than controller. though I would spend the extra money on a dual stick setup, which is inarguably the best control scheme for the game
Best games is Echo VR sadly I’m a 6ft4 chad and broke lights multiple times so I had to stop playing to.
Otherwise you can replay fps like RCTW or HL1, then there is contractors which is basically CoD in VR.
Beyond that there isn’t that much to be honest, everything that is action based and isn’t shooter imo is too clunky and doesn’t really work (minus Beat Saber).
Wish studio would jump on the occasion to port old games from the late 90s like Thief, Deus Ex, etc...
