One without arms tbh, I sit at a 90 degree angle as a point so I use an old steel frame office chair without arms
If my butt gets sore I'll sit on a pillow
this, i took the arms off my aeron because if its at the right height ergonomically theyd be flush with your tabletop, which means you can only push your chair as far in as they allow before being up against the table.
anyway op idk what chair u should end up getting but i will say that whichever one u go with u pair it with a standing desk with a treadmill under it and alternate between the two. that is the best thing for your skeleton and connective tissues biomechanically if you plan on spending hours in front of a pc for multiple years on end. your body will thank you in a few decades (or maybe within a few weeks depending on how old/healthy you are today)
Extreme obesity? Why the frick wouldn't I want arms?
Shifting stance while sitting up
Enjoy your back problems
That doesn't make any sense. Your don't have to use the arms, but using them also had nothing to do with your back.
I play guitar and the arms get in the way when I'm seated
Me too. I've been using armless desk chairs since I was 12 lol
I'm also used to and also prefer no arm rest, but why do even high end office chairs usually come with them if they're neither particularly ergonomic nor useful?
They are useful though, somewhere to rest your arms when typing
Same. Armrests just get in the way of so many things
All i have is this shitty bench. Its got poop stains on it 🙁
good morning sir
i had a computer chair that broke.
the lesson i learned is that the bar connecting the seat to the upper part must be soldered and if you buy online they wont do that cause they want to save on shipping. so just buy it at the store.
Paid $800 USD for a used embody, I love it
is it possible to take out the arm rest?
If you're strong enough.
I really like my chair from maxnomic.
Aeron meme chair, I have a new job and it made me notice the big difference
Same, brought a new Aeron and I love it
cheap office chair for $200 until the fake leather peels off and gets all over clothes and room
Got this for $50, like new. Steelcase Think.
i gave mine away
Are Amazon chairs any good?
look at the reviews yo
any chair is good if you running gentoo
king shit
I have a homosexual AK racing chair, wanna switch it out for a chair that is actually good for me and I am also slowly transitioning away from the homosexual gaming look into a more "professional" look.
$60 Costco office chair. They go on sale occasionally. It's way better than I expected. My only complaint is I wish it was cloth.
Guys, you might be good at technolo/g/y, but you don't know shit about human body. No correct response in this thread yet, and I don't expect it to appear. But believe me when I say that all those Aerons, Embodies and Costco chairs only damage you.
You won't believe me, right?
Well, it's probably too late for you anyway.
yeah yeah standing desk autist
I like standing desks, but I don't see them as a magic solution to all problems. Standing all day is going to frick you up as well, maybe not as much as sitting in a bad posture, but still.
Adding a threadmill and walking 1-2 km/h while working on a computer is much, much better. You could even forget about standing still completely, but doing this once in a while won't do you too much harm.
But to walk/stand effectively, just a flat elevated desk and a laptop won't cut it. You need some special arrangement for keyboard and monitor. Without it, it's going to look like this: you're standing, laptop is below your natural eye level when your head is straight up, and at the same time to reach the keyboard you need to raise your hands above what would be considered natural (if the angle between your arm and forearm is less than 90 degrees, you're definitely doing it wrong - but ideally that angle should be even bigger).
All those arrangements for proper posture in parts of your body other than a spine I leave as an exercise for a reader. It would take too much time to convince you that this is necessary and it wouldn't probably be implemented by anyone because of my post anyway. If you're smart, you can figure it out on your own. Just remember: don't blindly believe all the studies you encounter. After some time you should be able to develop common sense about what looks right and what doesn't, and common sense really goes a long way here.
Of course sometimes standing or walking just won't work. You may be too tired, you may be in a mental state where you need to be still to think clearly, maybe you do electronics and have some soldering to do. Even in this case the ergonomics shouldn't go out the window. But the solution I'm going to propose you're probably not going to believe either. But look below.
Sitting on the floor is no good.
Higher table makes it a bit better, but it's still not perfect.
Read above. For chair: Salli.
ok i believe you i believe you no need to get rash
wats the answer
I don't like chairs with wheels, never did.
steelcase gesture ruined my tailbone
Go on...
the foam got soft and it bottoms out so I feel the metal frame underneath. Only took about 2 months
Im not even fat. weigh only 160 pounds. only thing is that I sat in the chair A LOT. dozens of 8 hour sessions where I dont get up.
Suprising since the gesture is known for being really good
Chairs where you can only be on one position are a meme. The body isnt meant to sit in the same position for several hours. "Ergo" chairs arent really ergo. The only thing I agree with are the wheels
>tfw no desk nor chair, just using shit on the floor
At the start it was kind of painful but then I started getting used it and the different postures that can be used. Not sure this will work long-term but it's been a month and my body seems to be fine.
If you a big guy like me(6"6', 485 lbs) - Dxracer Tank series chair is what you need.
anything that isn't a gay racer chair
i use some herman miller knock off chair its pretty decent the people i bought my house from left a bunch of furniture because they were moving overseas.
Manlet, plz.
I'm a fat frick, what's the most comfortable office chair that's durable enough to not implode?
-
I ordered a Steelcase Amia Air. Did I do well?
Thoughts on the staples hyken?
I too would like to know
looks plastic as frick
Have had this at home for 3 years and have had a Aeron at work for 6. Its a budget Aeron. like 75% as comfy with half the build quality. The Aeron build quality is insane thought so that's not as bad as it sounds. Head rest is on the hyken is useless its a neck rest. Got mine for $150 so getting my money's worth. It looks like its double that now. I wouldn't pick it up for $300, id try and find a better chair used.
It's an inferior Aeron. Don't be a cheap frick when it comes to what you sit in for the majority of your life. If you live in a big metropolitan area check Craigslist for office liquidators selling Aerons for $300-$500. Do some research before buying. If you want a headrest, buy the Atlas accessory.
I own one right now and it's the most cheaply made shit ever. Do not buy it because the lumbar support broke and now one of the sticks that held the plastic bump for my back is now stabbing me. Along with the arm rests ripping on the sides. The lip of the seat is also a cheap foam piece that can eventually pop out which forces you to push it back in. Head rest is completely useless as another anon said. Don't be a cheap frick and get something better. All of these problems happened under 1 year of usage.
Had one for a few years now and I recommend it for anyone that can't get an aeron for normal people prices. It won't jerk you off, but it does well enough at not being a source of back pain like a cheap $200 chair.
looking at buying this chinkshit from amazon
seems actually decent
Seems like a pretty good Aeron clone
Every response in this thread is wrong. Sitting in a chair all day will frick you up, no exceptions. If you're going to be at a pc all day then you need to be either sitting on the floor or standing. Ideally you'll alternate between the two. If you really want to take it to the next level, you need a treadmill with a stop to set a laptop while you walk.
>b-but
Every study ever done of populations that don't traditionally sit in chairs vs those who do have shown that people who sit on the floor have significantly reduced incidence of literally all degenerative diseases of the knees, hips, and lower back. You can sit in a chair if you want but no matter how much you pay for it, you will ruin your knees and back and you will destroy the strength and flexibility of your hip flexors and extensors.
What are good poses/setups for using a PC on the floor?
I have a small adjustable height table that's big enough to fit a mouse and keyboard for when I'm sitting on the floor. As far as poses go, just sit naturally and you'll find that unlike sitting in a chair where you can not move for hours, you'll be regularly shifting around and changing your sitting position to remain comfortable. This is part of what makes it so much healthier for your body; you'll be moving around enough to encourage circulation and keep yourself from spending too much time in any one position.
>use pc on a treadmill?
Reading comprehension?
>treadmill with a spot to set a LAPTOP while you walk.
But yes, just standing all day is infinitely better for you than sitting. You can rage about it if you want but if you're going to be spending
>many hours a day sitting in front of the PC?
then the only you're going to do it without destroying your body and your health is by avoiding sitting in a chair as much as possible. I'm sorry you don't like it but it's the truth.
ive sat at a chair at a pc most of my life and my back is fricked where I get bad backpain if I stand more than an hour. help
Stop sitting in chairs if you can and go find some youtube videos for back/hip exercises. You almost certainly have a combination of weakness and tightness so you'll want exercises to strengthen your leg, hip, and back muscles and a good stretching routine for them as well.
use pc on a treadmill?
it's impossible to have chair threads here
>just stand all day bro
>just rip an actual driver seat out of a car bro
>just get this one thats $3k bro
big surprise from the same board of autism that is probably reading this post from a terminal somehow
Link them.
>mfw this idiot thinks i'm personally invested in his health and expects me to go find him a bunch of links to convince him to not destroy his hips and back
Son, I don't give a single frick if you believe me or not. If you don't care enough to do your own research then you deserve the results. You're only hurting yourself.
>typed nearly the longest post in this thread, claiming studies support his widdle crusade
>someone is interested and asks for links
>WTF BRO I'M NOT INVESTED IN YOUR HEALTH UMM LOOK IT UP IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME
utterly raped
You'll notice that I gave a serious response to people with serious questions
There's a difference between people asking for more information because they're interested and people asking for more information because they want to start an internet fight. Anyone who's been here for longer than 5 minutes should easily be able to distinguish between the two. Your responses clearly out you as the latter and yeah, you're right, I'm not invested in your health. If anything, I'm smiling because seeing you rage means that you definitely won't listen and you're virtually guaranteed to ruin your body by spending 80 hours a week sitting in chairs for the rest of your life.
>typed nearly the longest post in this thread
That post, and this one, took me roughly 30 seconds each. I've never understood how "nerds" can sit in front of a keyboard their entire lives but never learn how to type quickly.
studies or gtfo
>muh studies
Look how many studies Herman Miller bought and then think if it's worth anything and if you can trust it.
>Every study ever done of populations that don't traditionally sit...
>link the studies, please
>LOL STUDIES???? TRUST THE SCIENCE HUH???
Oh, I'm not who you think I am. I'm not
, but
.
you're such an enlightened individual
>muh sitting
>muh standing
For me, it's lying in bed with my AR glasses [spoiler]that don't exist yet in a good enough quality/form. [/nonworking spoiler]
looks good for about 10 minutes
they make the arms with adjustable height but never width
I use a KAB K4 I got from some random sale. Works incredibly well but I have no idea how much it actually costs.
>muh several hundred to thousand dollar chair
Holy kek. People really spend that much money on a fricking chair. My broken ass shit does the fricking job and my parents who work on computers all day haven't had issues into old age either. Just be active and you'll be fine.
>What chair do you recommend for many hours a day sitting in front of the PC?
a mix of this and this
Please shop a pepe on the blue ball
Thanks this is fun
thank you VERY much anon, now I have to squeeze another fap during work hours
indescribably based
come home
A bed and a plywood rectangle.
bump
I'd recommend the Steelcase Gesture. I got one for €1400 and it's great. Had a lot of upper back/neck problems before but since I got this chair they didn't come back.
Ive already posted about it in this thread and I say its cushion is trash. Everything else about it is great. I say if you weigh over 130 pounds then stay clear and get something with a thicker cushion or get a mesh chair.
martela logic 400, or kab executive
I will always listen to Hotaru posters.
What are your opinions on good mesh backs?
What about mesh seats?
I love my aeron, mesh = breathability
okay for the back if the chair has lumbar support, bad for the rest of the seat
Any affordable tallgay chairs with decent airflow? I got this homosexual gaymer chair which has done the job except it turns into a furnace for my ass and back, can't stand this sweating.
I know there's $1500 options and I can actually afford it but I move around for work and it's not feasible to haul it with me or buy a new one wherever I go.
>5'5 manlet
>no chair goes low enough
>foot stools aren;t confortable
>just resigned to having a chair always digging into my legs
Buy aeron size A, it definitely goes low enough
step aside poorgays, the throne of supreme comfort is coming through
nah
>hard plastic
>doesn't confirm to your ass shape
>not as breathable
>ugly as frick
am I missing anything?
confirmed for not having sat in one
I bought a NobleChair TX (mesh) for gf just a few days ago. Came all scuffed up, just sent it back. Then we ordered a Secretlab. Shit felt like 1000x more premium. Really great quality, and premium as frick, I recommend it.
People will most likely recommend the Herman Miller chair(s), but prepare your wallet, those go for like 1000$ ez.
I used NobleChair (the big version) for years now, and I LOVE it. Shit fixed my back pain, I can sit comfortably all day long. So yeah, I think "gaming chairs" work totally fine, unless you buy a 10$ one from ebay.
What's your promo code?
I have 3 for each brand I just recommended and mentioned. :^)
btw gf used DXRacer before her Secretlab and that was fine too. one thing to be careful though.
- if you are small, don't make a fuss and get a small chair IF you need it. Secretlab sells smaller models (and many other companies do too.)
- if you are BIG, get a bigger version/chair. again, most brands sell a bigger one. they come with wider base and higher weight tolerance.
- if you are short, get leg support (pic related), or get a short gas strut. Noblechairs sells one, but if you are in the US, you can just buy one from Amazon.
even with the best chair, you have to pay attention to correct posture!
>short gas strut
Holy frick man thank you so much, I never knew these existed and always say to my self if my chair was just a bit shorter it would be perfect. Just got one of amazon, hopefully it works out.
>all chairs with wheels
How do you handle it, anons? They are always rolling around.
remove legs. move 50kg chair by hand. become a chad chair user today.
I've used a hyken for years now, it really is a good budget aeron. If you haven't used an aeron it'll just seem like a nice mesh chair, if you have it'll just feel like a slightly worse aeron. But in the last couple of years I've gotten standing desk-pilled, and I've already lost weight/gained stamina from using it. When I'm at work, I stand, when I'm home, I sit. It's a good balance
If you're willing to spend a ton of money on your PC but not the chair you use to sit in front of it for 8 hours a day+, you're going to have a bad time. While there are some options for cheaper chairs that are good values, the proper ergonomic office/executive seating is the way to go. A few options, some have been listed above by other anons. Note that its not enough to just get a given model, you have to look for how it is configured - most of these have a variety of add-ons both aesthetic (what kind of upholstery, color of different parts of the chairs, caster selection ) or more important functionally (extra padding, contoured shape, lumbar support , rocking mechanism, arm padding and adjustability, overall settings etc.. all kinds of other stuff) that can be added to the base version.
>Herman Miller
This is one that broke into popularity some time ago. Aeron and Embody are two of the more popular models. HM often have a lot of dials and settings you have to configure properly for your use which many enjoy.
>Humanscale
Freedom (especially with Headrest ) is almost the alternative to HM in that it has few dials and settings and instead auto-magically moves with you.
>Steelcase
Leap and Gesture are two popular models for good reasons
>KABSeating
Expensive but some swear by them. Make a lot of commercial stuff for control rooms, vehicles and more.
>Haworth
Known for the Zody and some others, stylish mid grade office seating
>Lifeform****
The Ultimate Executive (mid back or high back) is the best I've found even among those I've listed above and my current chair. Boutique Canadian company and ultra comfortable, tons of features too. Expensive, but worth it, second only to 5-figure hanging workstations I've found. They also make a top notch footrest to go with it, best I've seen.
So yeah, that's a start. Most "racer/gamer" style chairs are paying too much for too little, but there are other options.
name one problem with the secretlab titan
>you're going to have a bad time
Lmao.
used this chair as desk chair for 2 years. Desk chairs are a meme.
Theoretically speaking, and if money was no concern, would the true best and healthiest chair would be one that is motorized and automatically adjusts itself slowly over time to unconsciously make you sit (and go to/from standing) in different poses?
Machine learning chair when
Supposedly, good ol' office chairs are the best chairs for gamers. That's what, supposedly, knowledgeable people on the internet keep telling me.
I recommend woman
comfy
