Don't try to ride the fence on civil rights, pick the pro-civil rights side and use it as a wedge against the Democrats. Also shelve the 50 state strategy and focus on California, Illinois, New York, etc.

    Democrat machine vote rigging

    1) Not try to campaign in all 50 states. A noble goal, but not worth it. Stick to the swing states. It made him exhuasted and sick - he was underweight before the 1st debate and hurt his knee (hurting it again moments before the debate), hence his haggard appearance

    2) Don't pick Cabot Lodge Jr. He is a poor running mate, doesn't like campaigning and is a snob. Pick someone else, ideally someone from the Midwest or New York though.

    3) Don't debate Kennedy. There's no precedent for this so there's no shame in avoiding it in 1960.

    4) Yes, checkers speech worked wonders. But it's 1960 now, Dick, get a catchy jingle on the airwaves right now. One with optimism

    5) Make more vague overtures towards civil rights. 1960 campaign was actually quite devoid of it, given what happened in the following 8 years, so even just some passing mentions would have helped.

Realistically could Nixon have somehow gotten Rockefeller on the ticket?

Rocky would want taxes cut substantially, movement on civil rights, an empowered VP office and that's just for starters. I guess Nixon thought he'd be more trouble than he's worth. Rocky always did really shittily in primaries suggesting he wasnt a good choice for the base

1968 had a bigger southern revolt, if you meant states. If you really meant EV, then 2016 a had a lot of independent EVs due to the overall weirdness of that election

re 3), debate Kennedy over telephone, different studio for each. Nixon gets his own lighting and makeup; isn't fighting on JFK's turf.
The radio audience thought Nixon won; it was Mike Teavee who decided he'd lost.

He could've just done this and would have won. The election was so ridiculously close, being in better shape during the debate probably would've swayed enough voters in enough important states to choose him over Kennedy.

Not concede and challenge Kennedy’s fraudulent wins in texas and illinois

Not conceding would have exposed the Mob ties that both of them had. Conceding and trying to stay relevant by facing off with Pat in California was unironically Nixon’s best move

Nixon was also correct in 1960 that contesting the election would have played right into the Russian's hands, in a time period where the gap between east and west was still rather blurred. America having a contested democratic vote would have been propaganda gold for the Kremlin and Nixon knew it.

he could have challenged the results in texas and illinois.
even wikipedia states that JFK won illinois by fraud, and that the fraud in texas may have tipped the scales in Johnson's favor.

          This is a cope.

Illinois might have been rigged but the margin in Texas was so wide that Nixon couldn't have won even in an honest election. The basic reason the Republicans didn't carry the legal battle further is because they would look like sour grapes cucks and they would still lose anyway.

Eisenhower even offered to raise the money for Nixon to challenge it. He still said no. He knew a recount would take 6 months at least, it was a pointless waste of time that would discredit American democracy and distract President Kennedy from his job.

If every single state went his way, and none of the Republican ballot stuffing on Nixon's behalf came up.

Keep in mind that this was an era where party political machines were still around, and there was sleaze on both sides. Squeaky clean elections were not the norm and to throw a big fuss when you lose a reasonably fair election would just piss people off and make it harder to run again.

Any ballot stuffing the republicans did would have been tenfold on the democrat side. They were literally known for it back then, from the 30's-70's democrat cities were committing voter fraud like nobody's business, and they still do to this day

go ahead and point to any republican machines that rivaled the ones in cities like Chicago, Kansas City or even places like Athens Tennessee
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_(1946)

            >Cantrell engaged in electoral fraud, both by intimidating voters who voted against him, and by allowing ineligible people to vote.[3] The U.S. Department of Justice had investigated allegations of electoral fraud in McMinn County in 1940, 1942, and 1944, but had not taken action.[2] Voter fraud and vote control perpetuated McMinn County's political problems. Manipulation of vote counting was the primary method, but it was common for dead voters' votes to be counted in McMinn County elections.
            >The political problems were further entrenched by economic corruption of political figures, who enabled gambling, bootlegging, and other illegal activity.[3] Most of McMinn County's young men were off fighting World War II, allowing appointment of some ex-convicts as deputies.[1]:116 These deputies furthered the political machine's goals and exerted control over the citizens of the county
            >During the war, two servicemen on leave were shot and killed by Cantrell supporters.[1]:116 The servicemen of McMinn County heard of what was going on and were anxious to return home and do something about it
            >There were several beer joints and honky-tonks around Athens; we were pretty wild; we started having trouble with the law enforcement at that time because they started making a habit of picking up GIs and fining them heavily for most anything—they were kind of making a racket out of it. After long hard years of service—most of us were hard-core veterans of World War II—we were used to drinking our liquor and our beer without being molested. When these things happened, the GIs got madder—the more GIs they arrested, the more they beat up, the madder we got..

he's also forgetting HHH never contested a thing in '68 despite how close it was there too. Why? Because Republicans were nowhere near as dirty on the voter fraud in those days. Dems were all over it

            >The polling place was commanded by Mansfield man Minus Wilburn. Wilburn tried to let a young woman, who Hairrell believed was underage, vote. She had no poll tax receipt and was not listed in the voter registration.[1]:117 Hairrell grabbed Wilburn's wrist when he tried to deposit the ballot in the box. Wilburn struck Hairrell on the head with a blackjack and kicked him in the face. Wilburn closed the precinct and took the GIs and ballot box across the street to the jail.
            >White says he was the one to call it out: "Would you damn bastards bring those damn ballot boxes out here or we are going to set siege against the jail and blow it down!" Automatic weapons fire erupted, punctuated by shotgun blasts. "I fired the first shot," White claimed, "then everybody started shooting from our side." A deputy ran for the jail. "I shot him; he wheeled and fell inside of the jail."[2]
            >"In the end, the door of the jail was dynamited and breached. The barricaded deputies—some with injuries—surrendered, and the ballot boxes were recovered."
