Accidentally going back on page on web browsers because every dumbshit butthole webdev thought it would be a good idea to put BACK and FORWARD on your mouse. Some real Shoe Size IQ thunkings going ons at Mozilla.
I only dislike their function in web browsing. I love the buttons and every modern mouse should have them. I just don't like how they are BACK and FORWARD in web browsers. Page Down and Page Up like
page up and page down
suggested is much better imo. Or maybe Home and End.

Free wheel makes that fairly pointless.
Also having those as dedicated single buttons on my keyboard.

Backspace has been Back on web browsers for a long time. Alt + Left Arrow and Left + Right Arrow also fulfil the function of BACK and FORWARD. You don't even have to take your hands off the Keyboard, buddy.

>Backspace has been Back on web browsers for a long time
And removed from some browsers.
And while true that you can browse entirely by keyboard, I'd still stand by the forward back buttons being on the mouse being very convenient. I use them all the time.

Actually it's because browsers have more control over your browser history than before. There were laws preventing shitbag webdevs from kidnapping your browser history because of this exact reason. It may be deprecated but people still use it. Look at Macs.

Why would my hands be on the keyboard? 95% of the browsing experience is using a mouse.
macOS: just-this-app and all-windows-on-this-desktop Exposé
Windows, GNOME-on-Debian: back and forward
iPadOS: dunno, never tried (I keep a mouse plugged into one of my monitors, and sometimes I'll plug my iPad into it to get a bigger screen and slightly better speakers)
Dota 2: frick, I forget. Probably something nondestructive like +voicerecord or Mumble/Discord voicechat because I accidentally pressed one of them a little too much
they're just copying what Microsoft did for IE
ctrl + w
ctrl + tab
binding a destructive action to a thumb button? Baller.
One for Super key, so that I can open Gnome's Overview, App Launcher and switch workspaces just with the mouse (I'm using Gnome)
The other one is unused
How do you map a mouse button to super? I tried doing this a while back but couldn't figure out a way that didn't involve running something like xdotool every time I pressed the button.
I have buttons on my mouse for forward & back, volume up & down, next & previous track and play/pause. Makes it easy to control music while playing vidya without having to alt-tab out or anything, and forward & back are just super convenient when surfing the web.
Forward and backward in browsers and file managers.
Zoom and crouch in shooter games.
I should bind them to something in Emacs too, but I don't know what.
I use that button as a cheat macro button for DOTA 2 as skywrath mage so when I click on it, it'll auto execute the combo and I get to one-shot 4k+ HP homies
By themselves? Show desktop and alt+tab. They also work as modifiers to perform other actions (next tab, previous tab, close tab, undo close tab, refresh, maximize/restore window, minimize window, close window, pause/play, mute/unmute, media next, media previous, volume up, volume down, zoom in, zoom out, cut, copy, paste, enter, escape, and much more). I recommend getting one with more buttons, though. Two is a bit anemic unless you want to compromise on shortcuts.
Forward and back.
Poor use case.
Forward = hold left button, click right
Back = hold right button, click left
wtf does that mean?
You sound like a former FireGestures user.
FoxyGestures now
Me too. Now I hate mice that don't have these.
for me its
wheel left: back
wheel right: forward
]been doing this ever since wheels had the ability
Accidentally going back on page on web browsers because every dumbshit butthole webdev thought it would be a good idea to put BACK and FORWARD on your mouse. Some real Shoe Size IQ thunkings going ons at Mozilla.
>the most convenient additions to the mouse since the right mouse button
>this fricking inept

Then just open up your mouse's control panel and rebind them, moron.

going back and forward in my browser and sometimes as extra easy to press buttons in games. you can never have too many extra buttons really
page up and page down
Previous weapon
Next weapon
I hate modern scroll wheels. So shitty
Dota 2.
I use them for left and right click. For me it's comfortable that way.
What do you use the normal click buttons for?
left and right arrows, for when I'm scanning through porn images really quickly with my penis in my other hand
Switching between workspaces on muh tiling wm.
Drive forward
Drive rearward
General browsing
Forward & Backward
Bideo game
Ping & Voice chat

I'm using the HP provided software
Sadly it's Windows only, but once it's set up I can switch between two profiles easily
shift and ctrl - thank me later
why that and why would anyone thank you for such useless keybinds
lots of reasons, 3D work mostly but it can keep your hand on the mouse for plenty of tasks that would otherwise need two hands
>two hands
Yeah like jerking off 4 dudes (tip to tip) at once
increase brightness
decrease brightness
I dont acknowledge their existence on my mouse. They shouldn't be there, and anybody who disagrees is a homosexual.
>t. candyass
ctrl + w
ctrl + tab
XButton2::
; Send the Win + PrintScreen key combination
Send #{PrintScreen}
return
Your post has fubar'ed the thread dimensions on my phone.
You are on the list.

this thing is a piece of shit but the numpad is very useful
forgot to add 10 = 0, 11 = +, 12 = -
it's designed for mmos, it's kinda moronic but it was cheap
Forward and backward in browsers and file managers.
Zoom and crouch in shooter games.
I should bind them to something in Emacs too, but I don't know what.
I avoid buying mice with extra buttons. I once had an MS IME 3.0 and guess what? These two went unused.
skill issue
crouch and jump
I use that button as a cheat macro button for DOTA 2 as skywrath mage so when I click on it, it'll auto execute the combo and I get to one-shot 4k+ HP homies
The large one is for reload in CS.
One for voice chat in game the other for discord
Forward and back mostly, in some games I bind something to them
Slap and saber throw
coffee or tea buttons
push-to-talk and some sort of general utility and/or modifier key
forgetting they are there and accidentally hitting them
By themselves? Show desktop and alt+tab. They also work as modifiers to perform other actions (next tab, previous tab, close tab, undo close tab, refresh, maximize/restore window, minimize window, close window, pause/play, mute/unmute, media next, media previous, volume up, volume down, zoom in, zoom out, cut, copy, paste, enter, escape, and much more). right and left arrows, so while the wheel can scroll up and down, the side buttons can scroll left and right.
Making minecraft datapacks
copy
paste
Forward and back in general, a lot of different things in games.
Reload or crouch/spin around
Left button + Left/Right Click = Prev/Next Song
Right button + Left/Right Click = Prev/Next
Right button + scroll = Volume control
Button below scroll wheel= Play/Pause
Copy and paste. I use mouse gestures for back/forward.
I use a G502 and one of the other thumb buttons I have set to F5 which is great for IQfy.
Back button as a back button. Forward button as a return/enter key.
outside of games, nothing
I remap them with CopyQ so I can navigate through my clipboard quickly.
Gaming. Melee and grenade, respectively.
i'm not moronic, i have a normal mouse
have a nice day
Not enough buttons
I got all of them mapped on my g600 with 2 layers, and not even for gayming
Fidget clicker to soothe buyer's remorse for paying $300 for a mouse.
Light speed shitposting using autohotkey scripts.
How do I change what those buttons do?
10 = copy
9 = paste
5 = tab up
1 = refresh tab
2 = tab down
6 = close tab
3 = open recently closed tab
I don't use the last 3 buttons.
crouch and reload
