this costs $200, is half the size of a phone and it uses a LAM instead of an app ecosystem to run tasks. sheep here are hating on it instead of thinking about the potential of these devices

none of which needs specialized hardware you shill moron, hence it could be run on any old phone as a software package

its a scam for westeners. Will sell more than 1k units but not more than 10k as the economy must have fricked the npcs enough for them to become atliest a bit fiscally conservatives. Also a company run by a black man and a white woman that specializes in FOTM services should be a giant red flag... but knowing the target audience, it will sell 1k units because of that.

i still believe that just like 3d printing, crypto and probably many other pre-2012 hype trains, LLM chatbots will have 10% actual use from their hype and devices like the one in op and the other shit are scams at worse, at best they are just prototypes for phone apps.

I know it's not a replacement for a phone, but it has to do something my phone doesn't already do to justify its existence. Same as I don't carry a flashlight, a GPS, an iPod, a PDA and so forth with me.

I stopped coming here years ago when I realised every single IQfy poster is a comically insecure teenager. But the four or five boards I moved onto have all turned to shit, so now I sometimes come back. There's a lot less shilling for programming languages than there used to be, so I would say IQfy has actually improved.

maybe if the shills could describe it's use case (I literally asked) it would be helpful.

            Anonymous

You gave the most uncreative example. How about explaining wtf this thing does. The WOWOWW spam videos that don't actually explain what it does is pretty telling of how they tried to create a device to solve a problem nobody had in the first place. IF I needed to remove a watermark, I'd just toss it in stable diffusion and img2img with a light prompt - I highly doubt Ill need to do that on the fly with a glorified tamagachi and also doubt it would do a better job than SD on a local PC.

Not to mention the privacy question, at least running local models I dont have to be the product.

no it has a sim slot. if it was tethered to a phone all the time I'd agree it's pointless

you mean like with the scroll wheel or touch screen? If you're going to shit on something at least look at an image of it. I swear half the haters here are thinking of the Humane AI pin - which is dogshit. Rabbit R1 is a MUCH better product at a fraction of the price

The best case scenario is that this is a moronic gimmick that is a barley improved siri. The worst case scenario is that you're giving Chinese tech bros access to your bank accounts and full control of your life.

Also I don't know why people still think the future of computers is voice. We've had this dumb idea that computers should just use voice for decades and it never catches on because talking to your computer like a crazy person all day and night is moronic. Imagine your volume is too high and you have to scream VOLUME DOWN VOLUME DOWN over and over instead of just making an adjustment with your hands. What do you do if you're in public? I can't believe people are still obsessed with this idea of talking to computers like humans.

All this thing is doing is talking to a server where all of the actual work happens. It could be an app on the phone you already have. You're paying $200 to create e-waste for no reason.
They've obviously only done this because a cutesy separate gadget will get peoples attention while AI service app #62042 would not.
