Lately a lot of Ghibli, symphonic osts etc. high bitrate Japanese music just hits right on a set of reference speakers. Jazz and classical are my go to though.
Xiph is based. Half my library is Ogg (q6), with the rest in a mix of Mp3 (q2) and AAC (abr 160). I only keep select music in lossless formats because of sentimental value, or for the purpose of mastering, or if I intend to burn it to a CD. For listening, I choose a lossy format at good quality settings 99.9% of the time.
Just chill stuff lately. Can't stand lyrics anymore for some reason
>Can't stand lyrics anymore for some reason
Me too, though lyrics in languages I cannot fully understand can be enjoyable. Also Mongolian throat singing is tight, and it's often non-verbal, or limited to the repetition of 1-to-3 words in a severely drawn out fashion, so I don't think they count as lyrics in the conventional sense.
>though lyrics in languages I cannot fully understand can be enjoyable
That's exactly like me. I can listen to French singing, or metal growling stuff, but not clean singing in languages I understand. Why do you think that is? Some sign of autism maybe?

>Some sign of autism maybe?
I bet. In my case I think it's a mix of that, and all the psychedelics I ate when I was younger. I would sometimes drop a 5-strip and just listen to music in the dark on a nice stereo setup for 10+ hours, chain smoking, and occasionally teaching myself how to play the bass parts (for music that had someone on bass). Really exacerbated that preference. I also experimented with this aural psychedelic (DiPT) back then, which slowed perceived tempo, and lowered perceived pitch (thank God not permanently, though it made some music indescribably enjoyable), but holy shit did that give me a distaste for vocals in modern Western music.

WTF, you don't need drugs for this. Just do this:
mpv --audio-pitch-correction=no --speed=0.84 file.flac

I use AIMP because it has a feature to do this: Sound Effects > Pitch and Tempo. On Ganoo Loonix there's PulseEffects.
I was young and traveled in some weird circles. It was also mind-blowing to go to concerts or walk around the city on that stuff.

I often wonder how older people feel having experienced this sort of media in the past in their youth.
By the time I was a kid, digital tv and lcds were regular.
Radio was all FM.
MP3s existed.
Smart phones existed.
The 90s were already a long lost time.
But I caught a "glimmer" of that experience very early for a year or so, so I know enough of it to realise how stupid nostalgia for this crap is.
And that makes sense.
Because ghost in the shell had already happened and I only looked forwards. I looked back with disdain.
And I feel like conservatism (and I guess moderate liberalism pretending to not be conservative) is everything that is wrong with this world.

Conservatism leads to restrictions on behaviour. Those restriction protocols have unironically nearly killed me in recent times. It hasn't stopped corruption, it's established it. Corruption now leverages itself with conservative values.

Nice. I haven't heard of this vaporwave album yet.
I just cannot bring myself to encode my flacs. If I had done it 10 years ago, they would be mp3 files, and now I would regret it because opus > mp3. If I encode them to opus now, in five years there will be an even better format. HDD space is cheap enough, and will continue to fall in the next years.

I used to be obsessed with it but then became old, and settled on splitting all the files in three categories> raw Flacs, high quality encodings and low quality rips thay you won't ever be able to find in Flac anyways, even if you're willing to pay, cause the composer lost the OG files/dissapeared, shit like this but even rarer

anything, really, since I like music in general. only genres I don't listen to are reggae, kizomba, kuduro and other african ones. the ones I tend to listen to the most are liquid drum&bass, oldschool jungle, classical and when I workout phonk and death/dark/speed metal
I like when artists also mix genres that you'd think wouldn't be possible to, like what Goreshit does with breakcore and classical
>im talking about bitrate, poorly encoded music sounds shittier than well encoded music (usually, depends on genre) it’s not a meme. I think there are indistinguishable differences if the files are clean to begin with, like listening to a cd vs stupidly high bitrate flac files, but a shitty rip on a torrent site even at 360kbs mp3 often sounds worse than higher quality rips. Worth noting I didn’t notice any of this before I was gifted high quality speakers, and it is subtle, but real.

I listen to quite a variety of genres. From hip hop albums like Nujabes' Modal Soul or MF DOOM's Mm..Food to Studio Ghibli's soundtracks and Tchaikovsky symphonies. Recently I been listening to this quite unique japanese band I just found out about https://youtu.be/xjBpy4C6-tA
Just a random suggestion: "The Chopin Project" from (very attractive) half German, half Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott. Check this out: https://youtu.be/hffMLTmRe9A (Ignore the video.)
If you don't like listening to a piece of music at low volume, it's not actually a good piece of music.
Loud sounds excite your monkey brain and your judgment becomes impaired.
it's shit for you because you are a tourist, who doesn't belong there, and even states that he finds our taste and interests alien, yet tries to establish his rules in a community he invaded along with the others

is wrong, who are you, exactly? You're anon. That's who. I know nothing about you, I have no reason to take you seriously, and as far as the rest of the anons are concerned, you don't matter. And yet you have awarded yourself some imaginary authority over others' taste in media.
I have the fetish of recording my hookups then listen to it while in the car or in a meeting
I love listening to arrhythmic groaning, moaning, and slapping, punctuated by degrading remarks and dirty talk too. Really helps me focus.

Can't remember the last time I liked someone's music suggestion but this is fantastic
Voice ISN'T automatically bad, but it has to be good. Moat often, it's a detriment to the song.
first song reminds me of this a lot
Mostly productivity music, but with a nice complex touch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvFZjo5PgG0
Usually I don't listen to music but on the occasions where I don't get a headache from it's a split between breakcore and classical music.
I've fallen asleep to this almost every night for the past few weeks
Lately a lot of Ghibli, symphonic osts etc. high bitrate Japanese music just hits right on a set of reference speakers. Jazz and classical are my go to though.

My bad, when you said high bit rate, I assumed higher than 48k/16-bit, especially increased bit-depth.
