Also, I'd add, is there any difference on how Muslims from Southern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, etc, practice it?
29 or 30 days (defined as from one moon sighting to another) of fasting (defined as abstention from food, water, sex, and drugs from sun up to sun down) in order to get closer to God. The idea is that by abstention you understand the suffering of the poor better, and by that asceticism your own humanity.
At the end of each day, you break your fast with feasting, which varies by culture and region. You're also supposed to get closer to God and be less sinful, so you have to have good conduct too. It's not harder than Lent or Yom Kippur.
the not drinking water part is what makes it harder than Lent or Yom Kippur
I would be way more onboard with it if it wasn't for the not drinking water part. I've seen muslims in the heat of the day looking like they are going to turn into dust, it can't be healthy.

Yeah, it's a hot debate issue. It works better in more equatorial and Mediterranean societies where nobody does much work before 11 anyways and then takes a nap until 4.
Honestly impressive most carry this on. Nobody I know practises Lent, not even hardcore christians.

it's really not
Eating like that is easy, half the people on IQfy do OMAD. Most people who don't eat breakfast before work or lunch at work do the same thing foodwise as Muslims do during Ramadan
The no water thing is just dumb

>water thing
how many cases of severe dehydration happen during Ramadan? Especially in gulf areas were hot weather is really unforgiving?
I’m probably the only muslim on this board so I’ll answer. Anyway it’s the holy month where people fast during the day, give zakat (charity) and worship extra.
They do it because Muhammed told them to, it's simple as that. It's probably because people go schizo if they don't eat in a long time, and that's good if you have a schizo religion. But muslims cheat anyway and eat massively at night, many of them put on weight during Ramadan.
>(78)Chapter: What has been mentioned about musk >The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "(Allah said), 'Every good deed of Adam's son is for him except fasting; it is for Me. and I shall reward (the fasting person) for it.' Verily, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk."
Gross
Christianity and Judaism have annual fasts too so it's more an Abrahamic thing than strictly Muslim. The scriptures have a lot of protagonists going through hard times of privation and poverty on their journeys but persevering through faith.
>But muslims cheat anyway and eat massively at night
That's not cheating, the point of fasting isn't to never eat, it's to not eating during a certain period. Otherwise every fast would end in death.
WTF? No inflammatory anti-Muslim remarks, but ostensibly a genuine question? Are the Zionists on a break today?
I just want to know. I am curious.

aka facts and observations you trannies can't deal with
Sorry, I meant to post why do those dumbshit mudslimes not eat, are they stupid?
>Everyone who has doubts about Islam is a zionist
every time...
Ramadan is a pagan holdover. Same with Eid. The rasul's birthday is bidah. Ashura was stolen from the israelites. Islam's holidays are a joke.
Christian holidays are pagan holdovers too though
The Hebrews used to have fasting months as a way of atonement, and God rewarded them by preserving them

paradoxically Muslims tend to gain wait during Ramadan since after dawn they stuff their stomach with carbs and sugar.
Why did they decide to add a
>no water
rule? I think they are the only religion who does this.
