Is it just more of a cohesive integration into Macintosh than mpv can provide alone or is there more to it that made you switch. I know mpv can be considered ``special'' when it comes to UI.

It works. No image tearing. No delays with input. VLC is clunky as hell.
The only problem with IINA is the shortcuts aren't correct in the menus, basically forcing you to ignore the menu shortcuts and just use mpv shortcuts (which is really lame).
That doesn't in any way provide any information which refutes the common charge that VLC is backdoored.
