I always thought that this aesthetic was way more attractive than the regular old shiny plastic cases or chassis. I like seeing the interiors of things I use, I enjoy tinkering with electronics.
I don't get this argument. Are you so insecure that you feel threatened by what others think of you? I don't care if you think I'm childish, you don't matter.
I still know mainframe boomers who consider x86 'not real computers' and are dumbfounded that businesses are moving to distributed cloud systems, expecting them to cave and beg for a million dollar IBM contract any day now.
it looks great i like seing the parts. You can even see if something has fallen off. >muh for kids
And putting black matte color and red dragon patterns makes gayming for tough real men.
most of the mentioned are toys for kids, no one is making you but he colored versions anyway
you must be one of those sad, miserable gays who got the grey joycons
They became opaque, perhaps because it didn't make sense to be transparent with the increasing loss of meaningful ownership of our data and software inside them.

true design signaling transformation to dystopia. From playful kids toy /tinkering machine to uniformed coorporate consumer blob.

I still want them to make a dedicated console though. Getting tired of a gameboy that happens to work with a TV/monitor.
Meh. Cartoony games don't really get much from superior hardware. Just ends up looking like those cringey unreal 4 Zelda fan "Nintendo hire this man!" demos on YouTube.
>muh ray racing!
Its literally just dust particles bro, who cares.
You completely missed the point in everything you said. Nintendo can't keep the switch forever and you know it.

Actually the chip shortage, diminishing returns, and bad economy are leading me to believe this will be the longest generation ever, and frankly that's a good thing.
If people keep buying it, they'll keep selling it. Were at the point where graphics really don't matter to the normies anymore. Current gen looks better than ps1 pre rendered cut scenes.

The PS5 came out 7 years after the PS4 and the difference is actually minimal. The GC came out 4 years after the N64 and the difference was gigantic, same thing with the PSX/PS2/PS3 or the Xbox consoles.
20 years ago a new generation meant a gigantic leap in capabilities, new effects, new shaders, higher resolutions and bigger games. Right now each new generation brings only slightly higher resolution textures and models. Not that it matters because they were "high enough" last gen.
Raytracing is the biggest thing right now but it's too taxing even for next gen consoles and rooms illuminated by hand look just as good anyway.

Hahah
Are you the same moron who said PS3 and PS4 are pretty much equal?

See, the leap between PS3 and PS4 is noticeable just like comparing the Switch to the PS4. But PS4 to PS5? Really minimal. You're gonna tell me it's a leap as significant as the N64 to GC or the PSX to PS2?

to me graphics doesnt matter since 2010. And I dont agree with that modern gaymers are all about graphics and 0 about gameplay.
Wow that's the most contrarian shit I've heard in a while. Frick you. I fricking hate AA batteries, they were the bane of my existence my entire childhood and id get in trouble for stealing them from the tv remotes. The SP having a rechargeable battery was the greatest fricking thing Nintendo ever did. Suck a million donkey dicks you fricking hipster.
Why is it every time AA batteries get brought up, morons come out of the woodwork who somehow don't know that rechargeable batteries exist? Nothing beats having a common pool of rechargeable batteries that your devices use that you can just swap out rather than having a down time where whatever device you want to use needs to be recharged.

Those rechargeable AA batteries are fricking garbage. Had some Duracell ones as a kid and they didn't last very long. Total waste of money.

They work great for me. My family has been using them since the early 90s. I found a couple of the Panasonic ones we had from the late 90s a couple years back and charged them up and they still ran my old GBA for about 8-10 hours, while newer Eneloops will go for slightly over 24 hours of run time.

It's childhood trauma.
As a zoomer who mostly grew up with lithium batteries I'm actually not fond of them at all.
The only thing they did was save on battery swapping while slowly degrading every charge to where your lucky to get an hour out the shit after a few years
I was introduced to rechargeable AAs pretty young and I was never frustrated with those for the few devices that used them.
Honesty manufacturers need to stop being moronic and seeing batteries as an afterthought. Everything has some custom sized lipo and my only guess as to why is because it's one of the last things to be implemented and it's just so easy to get custom made cells in china.
Doing 18650s or using one of the many semi-standard lipo packs you find in RC would be appreciated.
They could also just not use the most energy dense chemistry but that is also too hard.
Miyoo mini has nice buttons and build quality but the Powkiddy V90 shape is just perfect for my hands and clamshell design makes it more portable since you don't have to worry about fricking up the screen.
No matter how hard you work, the bank account continues to shrink. Your wife keeps buying new clothes. The youngest child hasn't gone a week without losing her shoes at school. The middle one keeps flooding the toilet upstairs and there's a visible sag in the ceiling where water has soaked through. The oldest one is getting ready for college and you're having to buy plane tickets to ship him around the country only for him to become less certain of what he wants to do with every campus tour. The car needs an oil change again. The water line for the ice maker broke and is dripping on the floor. The lawn mower engine has developed blow-by and no longer makes good compression.
>where did it all go wrong?
it goes wrong with modern electronic which are getting more sensitive to photonic interference.
i.e: you can reboot or even brick a raspi with xenon flash unless you use a completely opaque casing.
i'm glad this transparent plastic bullshit is over, makes things look like childrens' toys
because they were? are you having hard time moving on and became manchildren IQfyermin by chance?
That shit didn't just apply to toys. Lots of hardware had that stupid design
Hello Manley man with chest hair who is an adult and not at all an insecure little boy pretending to have his shit together.
Video games are a fun hobby for all ages.
Please keep your insecurities to yourself and stop projecting.
Not.him but
You're so insecure man. You can still enjoy games while acknowledging they're just toys for kids.
>sorry my dude but i need all my tech to look super serious because i am le adult who does le adulting
I've lost so much weight since this picture. I'm 286lbs now and I can walk again.
>laptop and PC monitor
>children's toys
But yeah, tranparent plastic looks like shit.
>PC monitor
That's the full computer you zoomie homosexual.

I hope so
I once knew this guy who told me Windows was a toy because he worked on z/OS.
I still know mainframe boomers who consider x86 'not real computers' and are dumbfounded that businesses are moving to distributed cloud systems, expecting them to cave and beg for a million dollar IBM contract any day now.

I used to love this stuff as a kid.
Transparent plastic is for kids, yet, you have a glowing rainbow computer, and you stream wearing women's underwear.
It's coming back soon, just wait.
They decided electronics couldn't be fun anymore.

the PS2 looks fricking cool
The Chinese retro shit is in a golden age right now
Powkiddy v90 for sp lovers
Miyoo mini v2 for Gameboy pocket lovers
Retroid pocket plus 2 for portable gamecube and dreamcast
Plus like it or not, Nintendo is still staying true to traditional console gaming

AA batteries are how I survive power outages during Hurricane season. Must be great living in a first world country huh?
picked up a miyoo like a couple of days ago.
Miyoo mini has nice buttons and build quality but the Powkiddy V90 shape is just perfect for my hands and clamshell design makes it more portable since you don't have to worry about fricking up the screen.
And this is the reason I customized my joycons. Planning on doing the same with a Gameboy SP
>and where did it all go wrong
People are homosexuals who think that everything needs to be serious because they're an adult.

You forgot the best part
>girlfriend forces you out of your paid off trailer in the woods and forces you to pay $2000 to rent in the suburbs.
All of this would be within 5th and 6th gen if it weren’t for the 3DS
>where did it all go wrong?
it goes wrong with modern electronic which are getting more sensitive to photonic interference.
i.e: you can reboot or even brick a raspi with xenon flash unless you use a completely opaque casing.
This is basically just reskinned prison hardware. 0/10.
Whatever Apple does, everyone else follows. If Apple reintroduced this asthetic tomorrow, you'd see a resurgence.
We hated this aesthetic when it was new. We made fun of it and talked about how much we miss the 80s all the time.
>implying is not time for wood to comeback
That finish is hideous.
this wood is cool but he managed to frick it up.
I've seen it done with real wood (walnut iirc) and it looks classy. This is just painted and scored plastic
it looks like a cheap ikea furniture that was left to rot outside for few months
It was never wood. Back in the 70s, it was just plastic covered with wood grain painted film.
Based.
Looks radioactive!!! Very dangerous!
Yeah, it radiates soi, like all Nintendo products
I think Star Fox is pretty cool. I really like Krystal and Fay.
hello gpt-3
Holy SOVL
So y2k and futuristic
Miniaturization makes device's guts plain and boring, so nothing no see in most cases.
sad but true
was thinking about swapping shells for switch but came to a conclusion that only joycons would look cool enough to sanction the workload
GBA SP clear shell is great tho
Marxists infiltration is what went wrong.
Bring back blobject
It looks good on controllers and handhelds. I would choose a transparent handheld console if i wanted one.
Hey, FRICK your iMac
What is the hardware equivalent of open source called? Because this design is the closest Apple has been to it.
the 2DS is only like nine years old you poser
