then why would not using VSCode make me a jobless NEET?
your employers install mcafee and a few other scanners to grind a $5000 macbook to a halt just because they've heard that it gives them 'security' once

"Embrace, Extend, Extinguish" - Just what Micro$oft is doing with C#.
Waiting for Onivim 2 which will support all of VSCode extensions without the shitty JS bloat. If that is no good for me, I'll make by own fricking editor.

Long term vision. Mark my words. Microsoft will stop making visual studio in 10 years and everyone will be using vs code on windows, Linux, macs, and in the cloud.

JavaScript is slower. I love vscode, but electron bad
JavaScript is quite fast lots of RND has gone into it Electron is the problem you can make GTK and QT apps in JavaScript and they are quite fast
Every Java toolkit I've ever used is slow as molasses and ugly as sin, at least with electron apps you can have relatively fast rendering.
