    It's literally muh geography tho.

A centralized state literally couldn't reach because the most isolated and distant settlements so poverty & organized crime festered there as the capital and surrounding cities developed. Eventually it paved the way for uncontrollable widespread corruption spreading both from outside in and inside out.

Most Spanish colonies were glorified plantations producing only one or few cash crops. So when they became independent, they also found themselves with an economy revolving around a single or limited number of products. And their product(s) no longer had a globe spanning empire keeping their trade in balance. Also, every governor was appointed directly by the court in Madrid and every wealthy colonial son went to Spain for higher education. So now the plantation owners, with no experience in governance or innovation, but plenty of experience in cracking whips, found themselves completely in charge.

Banking on exports. It incentivized the upper-classes to lower wages as much as possible to pump out cheap product for European consumption. It created a population to poor to be a viable market for industrial goods and the landowners wouldn’t even want to invest in industry anyway. So the infrastructure remained backwards and their industry became dominated by foreigners, particular the British. Industrialization was the primary engine of wealth in the 20th century and Latin-America had to play catch up for decades. Argentina should have been a world superpower but instead it’s a state that’s barely relevant because it’s leadership kept the focus on investing mining and farming.

90 of the modern Argentine "noble families" are descendants from revolutionaries that rejected the "feudal Visigoth" in the 1810s.
It was French and English influenced mercantile elites and aspirants to be, that revolted against the Spanish in 1810.
Then they spent almost half a century trying to erase what I call the "might elites". Those who actually did the fighting for independence and realized no actual Republic was going to be established, but a centralized port oligarchical tyranny.

Ten thousand dead later, they finally took over in the 1870s. And did took vast areas of fertile land for themselves, but the mass migration of foreigners to work previously unwanted lands did re distribute ownership a lot.

So no, the land system was not to blame for our, Argentina, demise.

what went so wrong with latin america? no cope answers like muh geography, US intervention or being extractive colonies as opposed to settler colonies please.

The cope answers get some thing correct and should be taken into account but they aren't the only cause, other answers might be that the countries in the continent started off as republic that were incapable of conducting themselves like one (brazil excluded, mexico does not count because of very special circumstances). This rift between how the country should function on paper and how it actually works opens a gate for a lot of instability and corruption. And also rule by strongmen or oiligarchs orsome other thing like that, who ironically enough tend to develop the country a lot quicker and sometimes even mantain it in a more stable position than democracy.

            Anonymous

            Here is a better map.

the people you call "europeans" are like 75% native

Not really, I have went to those places and like half of them look like the typical castizo and some even look fully european(light hair/eyes). Guatemala had the biggest influx of europeans in Central America, but it was already populated by a lot of natives conpared to places like Costa Rica, for example, wich was basically empty before europeans came and now is one of the whitest places in latin america because of that.

            Anonymous

The only outlier is Peten (the big nothern territory in the map) wich is very native and has the most mayan ruins but is also very violent. Maybe because it's mostly jungle and narcos own that place.

Rent was paid in kind to the landowners who were either Aztec nobles (pipiltin), warriors given the land as a reward for services rendered, or the king himself (tlatoani), who all managed their estates through intermediary administrators. Not by 1985 but if you go back a couple decades, Spain was a shithole under most of the Franco regime. When he started easing out the regime the growth came, similarly to Chile, but Spain was underdeveloped.

Venezuelans are some of the most european latin americans genetically and they're migrating to an indio majority country (Peru) because Venezuela is one of the worst shitholes on the continent after Haiti
Argentina is also one of the most european countries and it's a shithole with an Africa tier economy
Chile is arguably the best country in latin america and it's a mestizo country
The most dangerous areas of Mexico are the most European ones while the most indigenous ones are the safest
Peru and Bolivia are majority indigenous and they're safer than majority European countries like Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil

        >Argentina is also one of the most european countries and it's a shithole with an Africa tier economy

        >Chile is arguably the best country in latin america and it's a mestizo country

Chile is castizo country, the amount of neonazi bands there that hunt inmigrants from Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia has been an interesting topic for years.

Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Parana and Rio Grande are actually similar in culture, history and genes and still are the israeliteels of South America where every injun and nog living in shantytowns wants to live because they know that their lands will NEVER be developed.
No matter how much you cope with the fact Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia are shitholes without redemption, the genepool of these countries is put down by the genes of inbreed small head mongoloids who never created anything in their entire history.
The fact you moved to the anglosaxon North America just show the reality of your sad thirdworlder race, you can't be civilized and your countries will always exceed the white countries of the continent in terms of crime, corruption, illiteracy and poverty.
Pray God whites someday exterminate your ugly barbaric violent archaic race and populate these lands with humans beings, actually white people.

Ideologically most of LATAM was always fricked

Their revolutions resulted in poorly laid out constitutions and thus more revolutions happened

The educated class in 1850 LATAM was far smaller than the USA’s was immediately after 1776. The difference between British colonisation methods and Spanish and Portuguese ones cannot be understated

Brazil has suffered extensively due to late industrialization, being one of the last countries to abolish slavery and didn't make a significant integration of the ex-slaves to society which resulted in slow economic growth, lack of ethnical and cultural homogeneity, lack of political independence to Portugal, lack of a main spearhead ideology like the manifest destiny, coronelism, suppression of private sectors (this has happened since 1500 and it's still happening) , shitty schools, corrupt politicians...
As far as the other countries, Paraguay was fricked by Argentina and Brazil and Argentina shoved it's economic growth up it's ass after electing left wing politicians for 50 years straight.

Basically the way I view it:
    >US formed as a functional democracy, with loyal citizens who fought hard to make it free
    >because of its stable entry into independence, it worked

    Canada and other former colonies:
    >let free by peace
    >already built up by Europeans
    >American help too

    And Latin America:
    >homeland collapses, no real choice but to become independent
    >no time to form a government, anyone can take power
    >new nations are artificially constructed and collapse
    >borders were vague since the colonies were all part of one empire (minus brazil)
    >wars over vague borders
    >and now they have a legacy of unstable government and poverty

It has nothing to do with race or culture, being thrust into independence with no plan just doesn't work.

Alberdi, an important argentinian scholars, often blamed spaniards of not ending the job about the indian question (Argentina was at the end the one leading the war against mapuches) and inheriting several cultural problems due to racemix. He was the main advocate of bringing immigrants from the old world to colonize empty regions in Patagonia.
Time just proved he was right, browns still are a problem inherited from liberal multicultural spanish dumb colonial policies and european inmigrants were the ones that brought money to invest, entrepreneurs, sholars, scientists, farmers, etc.
