      Neat!

if I had the motivation to start playing again, probably a synth

What kind of synth? Piano synth? Or any specific oldskool device?

I have a very old HP oscilloscope and would like to replace it with a new one eventually.

Sweet. Pics? What do you use it for?

I also have a spectrum analyzer. I mostly use these devices for repairment purposes.

That's pretty cool anon! What kind of repairment? I'd have no idea what these are used or useful for.

Mostly electronics such as motherboards or any other computer related electronics. It is quite useful when it comes to measuring and understanding the electrical signals and frequencies.

FPGA development board with HBM. AMD/Xilinx has 8GB models but I want a board featuring the 16GB model, which has a different footprint. Just so I can screw around with Imagination's DX11 GPU. So that's maybe like $100k+ in stuff.

I'd also ask for a TSMC n5 FPGA with gobs of HBM3e but Unicorns and Santa are probably more plausible.

Most O Scopes are used for prototyping. Once you have enough skill or go commercial, it gets a little redundant or time consuming to use one for repairing stuff.

Tell us about it anon. What does it do and why do you want one?

Buckling spring keyboard just kinks the spring when you press down and when that happens, a lever connected to the spring connects two pads together. It's a very dated design, and is fairly loud due to the use of that lever. Current trends favor quiet and smooth operation. And also individually replaceable switches. Kind of understandable why you would want those too.

a CD player so that I can listen to the CDs I bought but my moronic country has essentially eradicated these from hardware and department stores, and I don't want a CD reader to use on my computer

Every DVD player on earth can play CDs. And it's kind of pointless owning a CD player anyways, since that's all it does. It's newer Blu ray mechanisms that don't have the IR CD laser and can't play CDs.

An office ip phone that’s forwarded to from my cellphone.

"real phones" now are VoIP phones with extra steps. I don't think there's been real phone lines for years now.

            Viop with extra steps? Explain.
I use a viop service (jmp) as my everyday personal phone and my cell is a flip phone that I use for work.
You can't tell me that cell that connects directly to Verizon or whatever cell tower is a viop line. That doesn't make sense.

            >DVD player
nah, I thought about it, if I'm to spend money on something I'd rather get a cd player. something like an old boombox but for CDs, idk how it's called in the US.
some time ago I went to an electronics store that has computers, speakers, that kinda stuff and the store clerk asked what I was looking for, and when I said "I'm looking for an audio system that can play CDs" I saw he snicker momentarily before saying they don't sell those anymore.

Portable CD stereo??? Or just CD boombox? Those haven't been made in any decent quality for close to 20 years now. There's only Chinese clones and a couple of Sony models still kicking around now.
They are ~$40 in the US new for Chink landwaste, which isn't even a good deal here let alone... Brazil?

            Anonymous

yes, Brazil, how did you know?
anything from a walkman to a full sized boombox, but what I had in mind was a stereo, thanks. we had one of these when I was a kid, I always thought they were neat.
I have digital versions of all CDs I collect so it feels dumb to waste money on this, especially when you can tell by the pic alone that it has horrible build quality like you described.
still, considering OPs original question, it's something I'd like to get my hands on one day.

Probably an oscilloscope and a desktop power supply. I have a tiny power supply from the trash that works okay for supplying DC current at voltages up to 12V but that's it.

An office ip phone that’s forwarded to from my cellphone.

I just bought a Cell2Jack last week. I connect my cell to it using Bluetooth, and I plug in a landline phone to the Cell2Jack. Now when I'm at home, calls ring on my landline. It's not an IP phone but it's pretty cool.

It uses a different mechanism for the switches than modern keyboards, much cooler imo

IBM had a patent on them so until recently your only options were finding an old model M or model F, or buying one from unicomp which had gotten the patent from them (but they aren't very good quality in comparison to originals, specially the case)
Nowadays the patent is expired so we got some nice replica makers, the one from the video is one of such by model F labs

That's pretty cool that there's newer models out there! But Jesus that thing is loud omg

            Anonymous

Yeah the model F's mechanism was louder than the model M's, a bit too much for my taste I'll admit. The reason for that was also an advantage over it though, since it doesn't have a membrane sheet at the bottom which makes it easier to repair and able to input an infinite number of keys at the same time

Not particularly, but it would just be neat to have a “real” phone and land lines are dead. Even if I got one I’m sure everyone would just keep calling the cell first.

Alternatively, I might just see if they make docking station type things for cell phones. Would probably double as a charger as well, then it wouldn’t work if I’m away from home with my phone.

That's pretty cool anon. I'm sure there's a way you can set up a VoIP phone that rings when your mobile phone gets called, and uses your mobile for outgoing calls.

Wireless charging pads could be an option perhaps? Provided your phone supports it.

Thinking about it I actually have everything I want. I have a good audio setup, very good PC and decent peripherals. Maybe a better (smaller but higher refresh rate) monitor and arm for it.
And I have a dreamcast en route to me now; with PS2 coming soon to, so maybe a CRT would be nice. Although I've got really thick 4:3 LCD monitor.

You're not going to believe it, anon, but it's not your country. You just can't go into the store and buy a CD player anymore anywhere.
Maybe you can get a mini stereo with a shitty cd drive, but not a standalone player. It's 2024 if you didn't notice.
