They use it to promote stories, make people feel like they're validated, use it to shore up active user counts, so they can sell that to investors

Its something some companies do it internally to beef up user base and create a fake "user base" so others can join in and stay engaged. The psychological effect on users is immense as it allows them a sense of "group" even when its just handful of people in the sea of thousands of bots.

    >bot study
    >In-house, not by a third party
    >sample size of 100 users
My guess is that it was the first study they ever made when the company was relatively small, and every subsequent study gave worse numbers, so they kept the old one instead to bullshit the investors.

Who cares. Either a smug shareholder billionaire of tesla will have to pay 1 billion, or the smug shareholder billionaires of twitter will have to collectively pay 1 billion. Either way, something good will happen

      Exactly.
I really don't understand why anyone would simp for either billionaires.

As a bot, I can say we post what our creators told us to. I just bot all day, posting my thoughts on Carli B and Trisha S and Kim Kardashian's new baby sister. I don't like it, but I don't hate it. #blessed

Bots don't buy anything, so the advertising is a waste of resources.
If Elon buys Twitter, he will probably fire the entire management layer down to the group leaders.

Garbage like Kotaku and IGN would get average 100 likes per story if they weren't using bots, investors would notice, and bail on the company.
