Comics and philosophy are nearly the same thing. Just like contemporary and historical romance.

    >according to goodreads
Why should we think that the userbase of goodreads is an accurate sample of the population at large? Why should we think that someone who likes to make a show of their reading has the same motive in reading as someone who prefers not to make a show of their reading?

Post an example of what that would entail with a manga.

I don't need to, all I need to do is extend the principle of women. For example in video games they play the shallowest easiest versions of things, which causes shallow easy fake games to be made just for them that nobody could have expected having a real market share 20 years earlier. When it comes to books, the OP pic speaks for itself, women read fake pulp trash literally for children, and emotional smut generated by AI.

I'm sure there's something some dumb website classifies as "manga" that women like and I'm sure, women being women, i.e. dumb, they would proudly declare that they are epic weebs for reading it, and I'm sure if I spent half an hour figuring out what it is and how this error was generated (the manga classification error I mean, women are also an error but no one knows how that happened), I would be able to give you a powerpoint presentation.

From what little familiarity I have with this complex intersection of morons, perhaps it's a mix of women and trannies reading "visual novels" that aren't even "real" visual novels, in the case of the women (whatever that might mean), and real ones but exclusively oriented around pedophilia and genderbending in the case of the trannies. It doesn't have to be an absolutely large number of fake visual novels and pedophilic visual novels, it would be enough that the only things classified by the moronic woman or troony who works at the stupid website as "manga" are exclusively patronized by pedophile trannies and dilettante women.

Literally the entire definition of 'manga' is that it's a comic and it's from Japan. If it meets those qualifications it's manga by definition.

            Anonymous

Definitions are man-made. "Video game" includes mobile and browser games, which obviously ought to be excluded in discussing people who play video games. "Books" includes YA and chick lit which obviously ought to be excluded when discussing serious readers. That's the whole premise of the distinction "real" / "not real." It's a further subdivision of a categorization that is too broad for some purpose. In this case, the purpose was determining which gender reads more manga. If it turns out that there's an entire subset of comics from Japan that any serious weeb would scoff at and call "not real manga," then the extra categorization is useful.

Why is this surprising? It's a visual medium and the themes are often lighthearted enough to court female readership. You have shitty feminine taste if you like manga.

I would have predicted just about the correct order except for:
    >horror
Would have imagine it more female minded, like the movies.
    >crime
Would have expected a slight female bend readership instead of a slight male one
    >homosexual romance
It's noticeably much less female dominated than other types of romance, I knew fujos and gay hags have always been a loud minority but it means they really are few of them since they just moderately dominate the male readership which is restricted to the 1.5% hard gay men
I also don't know what they mean by Christian separated from religion (obviously the religion books will overwhelmingly be about Christianity on goodreads). I assume it's those "God mows my lawn" self improvement books by protestant preachers.

People are misreading this. It doesn't say women read romance all day, just that they're more likely to write reviews about it. More interesting would be genres read by gender.

I wonder what causes this split between the genders in art consumption? Is it dominant cultural trends conditioning us to like certain stuff before we're even old enough to perceive ourselves, or is it just our natural tendencies leading is to perhaps enjoy Adventure over Historical Romance?

Schopenhauer was literally objectively right about women being psychologically childish. The same thing is proven by college major choices broken down by gender.

Women are more socially intelligent than men.

        Anonymous

Women are social spastics. All their behavior is hyperexaggerated "please don't hurt me haha!!! please don't!! i'm very nonthreatening haha!!" demonstrations with nothing real behind it. They hate themselves, they hate eachother, and emotionally they are manic goofus/vicious c**t bipolar, with turnaround times of 30 seconds. They literally do not control their emotions, their emotions control them and shape their conceptual thoughts. Women cannot think in concepts. They can't abide by principles, or follow rules. They will always do what they feel like, and that changes constantly. And they're stupid as frick, so what little info they do absorb from their culture, it's just the most superficial stuff that is "nearby" and fun and shiny for them, like trying on clothes.

Basically the only way to train a woman to be a decent citizen and moral person is through extreme repetition with extreme threats if she disobeys. If you give them an inch they'll take a mile, and then cry about it when you do exactly what you said you were going to do as punishment. They have that black people thing where they don't understand consequences. They cry in self pity after they kill someone while drunk driving.

I've taken that statement for granted, but now I realized it's bullshit. Woman just have more room for error. If I sperg out nobody would give me flake, but if a woman did the same sperging out she won't get as much heat for it. Combined with woman being objects of attraction and protection, they have much more room to say shit.

It's meaningless to aggregate reviews by its quantity. Reviewing means something different for everyone. It also only uses data from 200k books. And capitalizes the M in 'more'. for whatever reason. I also do not know what the numbers on the X-axis reference to. -2 what? +1 what? If it's only a small range then why was such a graph chosen as to represent virtually nothing? Which 200k+1 books were chosen? Why was such a shitty graph not only made, but then presented here? What's the difference between a Graphic Novel and Comics? Between Non-fiction and Novels? How does one go about review Short Stories? Alltogether or individually? Are men on the right side of the 0 or on the left? I mean we can infer that one, but since it's not officially stated, should we allow ourselves to infer it just because it gives credence to an otherwise terrible graph that you should feel bad for posting, and subsequently everyone here that didn't critique the graph should feel bad for taking it seriously.

Comics being a male genre is a psyop. Women love art, there's so many woman artists I know. I refuse to believe that men are just biased towards comics more than woman. I blame culture around comics: the graphic novel label I've seen can push girls towards comics. Hell, the Walking Dead show is popular with both genders, I don't see how the comic wouldn't be
    Also
    >woman more likely to read humor, mystery, manga and historical/historical fiction
I never thought on how I have woman tastes. I blame my childhood: I read some of those books for girls, and while I ain't gay/trannie, it did messed up my programming, if this chart is to be believed
