i have an ipad, it's good for making digital art outside the computer but outside of that it's just a consumer machine, the whole os is a gay baby jail i really hate it
the keyboard is also expensive as hell but it's not like there's any use for it since you can only run fricking shitty ipad apps on it
how about watching this .webm in your ipad nerd :^)
I'm not paying 4 times the price to just use tachiyomi that runs perfectly fine on my 4 year old $120 tablet
heh tachiyomi is not on ipad and there's no alternative either
microsoft surface tablets actually make sense. >super portable >good screen >can do anything a laptop can >can turn into a laptop/desktop provided you have a keyboard/dock
i dont understand the appeal of non-x86 tablets, if you really need something portable, why limit yourself to shitty mobile versions of apps?
>glued fabric $200 keyboard >pen more expensive than apple's despite being unusable for art
What I really miss are small Windows tablets. The fact that you can have a complete x86 computer which fits in your hands that's smaller than eight inches was (and still is) incredibly novel to me. They can run any Windows application (so long as it's 32-bit) so you're not limited to a selection of shady or shitty applications on the Android Play Store or iOS App Store; if you used a particular software on your desktop, it'd work on this tablet no problem. IRC clients, IM clients, e-mail, bittorrent, download managers, SSH, file sharing and networking, GPS navigation, and even a few classic games- the concept was so damn cool.
Pic related is what I own. The Winbook TW700 is a seven inch Windows tablet with a full-size USB-A port built into the body so you can connect anything directly to the tablet without the need for an OTG dongle hanging out of it. I still use it today and do all kinds of things with it, from GPS navigation to watching videos on YouTube to downloading files and logging into my personal network while out and about. I love these small tablets, and it was a shame to see them die out. They went for amazing clearance prices when retailers were starting to fizzle them out, but now they're fetching premiums on eBay specifically for the novelty that they were known for.
surface go is probably the closer but iirc they have shitty cpus and are like 10" big
>surface go is probably the closer but iirc they have shitty cpus and are like 10" big
I really like them. They seem to have native decoding for web or something
Nice concept, but I prefer one with x86 and attachable keyboard.
Thats how I feel about Androd tablets. The good ones are too expensive for a browsing toy.
>phones pushing 7 inch
Friendly reminder
Thats how I feel after getting a new phone, small tablets are obsolete. My phone outperforms any tablet and has a 6.7" screen. Its not like you have much choice nowadays, all the phones are that big.
I use mine for reading in general (mangas, ebooks, etc.) I had to repair my laptop for over week last year, since I don't have a PC desktop, I use my android tablet + termux to qork from home. Surprisingly quite reliable if properly configured the only problem would be the slow AF disk I/O on sdcard.

Valid if Windows wasn’t such a complete and utter clusterfrick on touch displays. The reality of Surface tablets is that they are slow, a chore to use, and their battery life is mediocre right out of the box, with a lot of potential to degrade after several charging cycles.
>Windows wasn’t such a complete and utter clusterfrick on touch displays
Windows used to not be shit on tablets and touch displays. Windows 8.1 was what did it best, and still does it the best, then it seems that Microsoft threw away all that work since 2015. The touch UI had realtime priority and was super responsive, always instant. Meanwhile, perform the same gesture in Windows 10 or 11 and you'll have to wait a few seconds for it to register and finally pull up the UI. All of the important tablet functions got tossed around too much in Windows 10 and 11, meanwhile they were all accessible in less than a second with Windows 8
Microsoft is to blame for still trying to enforce a unified UI on touch and desktop devices. This can’t ever work, and it’s put us in a place where Windows has virtually no redeeming qualities anymore.
Ever since the X it's gone downhill. Slamming your keyboard down for the pen? Dumb as shit. The iPad Pro went the correct route by keeping the pen magnetically attached WHILE charging it wirelessly.
>might as well get e-ink stuff at that point
Because they're not great at note taking, actual note taking not just simple scribbles on the page. Inb4 that overpriced piece of shit remarkable >dont know why would anyone want to emulate stuff on a tablet
Cause it just works and is inexpensive, plus the screen isn't abnormally tiny like every other "portable" gaming device
I can't find a use case for them. I read either on my laptop/desktop, my phone or an actual book. The games are pretty shit. Any productivity must be better on my laptop.
Maybe if I commuted a lot they'd be useful for watching media, that's about it.
They are currently existing in an akward middle between phones pushing 7 inch and 13 inch laptops. Good useable tablets that are not just big phones push toward 12 inch and stop being holdable comfortably in one hand. Except the iPad Mini there is no proper tablet with pen support, that you can hold and use like an DIN-A5 notebook.
A proper tablet for me would be like an 8 inch Surface. Usable one handed, can be pocketed into a coat and gives the option to be used as a netbook. But the Surface Neo never came out.

I've been trying to find a use for them for over a decade and I still think they're a meme hopelessly stuck between laptops and phones and most of the market seems to think the same.
Android tablet = barely supported, waste of money unless you only want to browse 4chon in bed or watch videos.
iPad = can do the same as above but has a better experience. Needless to say Apple barely supports this compared to iOS and locks new features behind newer models forcing you to pay more.
Surface = overpriced fricking laptop but can do a lot of things including run your Steam hentai game you sick frick.
Super convenient. Super comfy.
And with all the other worthless shit IQfy skeets ropes over, you have to be a massive homosexual to deny the utility of them just because of the one company that dominates the space.
They are only good in form of 7" android tablet for manga and porn. Everything else can be done better with a smartphone or computer.
>android tablet
iOS is so much better in any way lol
I'm not paying 4 times the price to just use tachiyomi that runs perfectly fine on my 4 year old $120 tablet
The base model iPad is $300 and faster than any android tablet on the market
In what way should I spell it to you that I don't give a flying frick you autistic shill?
However you'd like friend

Not him but sure
I have absolutely no idea what happened to the video
kek it's over for ichuds
>Verification not required.
>that load time
grim
It is a 6th gen, fares pretty well for being 4 years old
Waste of money.

They're great for media consumption, not really great for anything else.
YOU CANT MAKE ME TAKE THEM
Everything except kindles for reading and iPads for productivity is shit.

>i dont understand the appeal of tablets with more than 30 minutes of battery life
im getting 5-6 hours with my surface pro 7, thats more or less as much as the samsung galaxy tab a8.
dont really know what youre talking aobut here
My iPad gets 10 hours, and it costed me only 300 bucks. Also, why would I want desktop apps on a touch device?

>Surface Pro 4
>1000 charging cycles
>1.5 to 2.5 hour battery life
>i5 6300u capped to 70% because the display flickers if too hot
>still shit battery

Great at note taking, reading, and emulation. If you know and accept this you'll be fine. Trying to replace your laptop or desktop with it is stupid.
>Great at note taking, reading
might as well get e-ink stuff at that point. dont know why would anyone want to emulate stuff on a tablet tho.

Shame most have crappy camera.
Good for in bed usage and car GPS navigation/entertainment system.

The best way to browse the web while lying in bed. Couldn’t live without one.

i'd have sex with my ipad mini if my dick was usb3 C sized
2k porn in bed
Uncomfortable form factor unless your tablet is the size of an iToy Pro and you're drawing on it with a pen.
I like mine but only got it because I have a decent income now. PC, Mac laptop, iPhone is the way to go.
I've been trying to find a use for them for over a decade and I still think they're a meme hopelessly stuck between laptops and phones and most of the market seems to think the same.
It's pretty good
Just lay on my bed with the tablet
Comfy
