I touched some sauce that I was simmering to see how it tasted. it had more oil than most sauces I make and I didn't account for the napalm effect of things that stick to you transferring more heat at the same temperature so I got a minor burn.
Staples still does, but they have limited amount on the shelf and they are pretty expensive.
I tend to find them in thrift shops quite often. I buy them whenever the price is about $4 per spindle of 50.
Either a Debian 12 iso, or a CD of some song recommendations I made for a classmate of mine. I could've just shared a Spotify link or made a torrent or some other method of sharing files, but I wanted to try out burning media to a physical disc. Sucks that I can only fit around 700mb on it.
Ye, I got a pack of 10 for ~$7, Verbatim, from Walmart. I saw a stack of who knows how many at a Goodwill, but I'm moronic and didn't buy it. I could've made a ton of CDs with songs like this on 'em https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIC9VRD-ZAk
I burned my retinas during the eclipse. people kept telling me I can't look directly at it, but I kept saying "I'm looking directly at it, so I guess I can"
The same happened to me back in 2017 (I was not within the path of totality, not even close) and I guess the light passed through my eyes at just the right angle or something, 'cause now I can see through women's clothes and see their tiddies through their shirt if I squint hard enough.
Some Zoomers have never even burned a CD. SAD!
Got a few old mates at my work who are too old to understand the internet. Sometimes they ask me if I can get a movie for them. I just burn it to a DVD and give it to them at work. I normally do a few a week for them. They'll normally buy me lunch every once and a while.
Thank you for your service. There's something more personal about burning a CD and sharing it with someone.
This.
Especially with software like Ventoy where you can put several bootable images on a single USB stick it makes little sense to have bootable CD's laying around.

The mobo can't boot from USB tho. It was either floppy or CD/DVD. I should had said that it was a i386 version

I own 2 laptops I've had since 2008, they are the last devices I own that have an optical drive and I haven't even ever needed to burn a disk on those devices.
Last year so i could play some movies on my blu-ray to watch with my mom. I had to buy a pack of empty disks on Amazon though since they're not selling any at all here.
A rice about two weeks ago. Got distracted by some bullshit and the next minute it's brown. Had to scrape the pot for good 40 minutes to get it back to being shiny.
Really? No one in this whole thread burns blu-rays for archival? I don't either but that's because I'm a poorgay who can't dish out the hundred bucks for the burner, otherwise I would be doing it
what did you store on them?
I am simply archiving by copying everything into TWO usb HDDs, same stuff goes into both because eventually one HDD will die

It's been a while. Do they even sell empty cd's anymore at stores?
I havent seen them in stores anymore, immediately available, you must order them online now
I still make backups on to DVDs.

Two months ago, a Debian 13 netinst
Why not a bootable USB stick though? Were you installing on some ancient machine?

I have a microwave/grill combo. One time I accidentally put cheese toast on the microwave setting for 5 minutes.
Imagine the smell.
I've done the same once.
My upstairs neighbor came running down, she though the whole building was on fire.

When a friend of the family wanted to burn a wedding or memorial video or something onto a dvd. First and last time I burned video instead of music.
I burned a new MP3 CD for a road trip two weeks ago.
a few months ago, some old debian version for a powerbook g4
A candle caught my hair on fire during Thanksgiving dinner; my entire head instantly combusted. My sister went into shock.
Yesterday. There doesn't seem to be anything that can be truly read only for archival after initial data write besides optical media.
Ubuntu Mint a few weeks ago, couldn't find a working usb pen
Last week (install dvd). Backups and documents in past year.

Last month probably.
At least ten years. My DVD drive has been disconnected from the mobo for about 8 of those years.

Read "How music got free", it's a nice book about burning movies on DVDs.
