you can use obsidian for notes and disregard all of the advanced features
obsidian destroys SSDs.
also paid software.

Haha you're right fellow human!
We should all use the true BASED note taking app, Microsoft™ OneNote®!

tbf if there was one MS Office app worth paying for personal use, it would be notes. Libre Office covers everything else.
>proprietary software for taking fricking notes
https://alternativeto.net/software/apple-notes/?license=opensource
Its called CherryTree
I like TiddlyWiki, used to use this before switching. Both are nice.
Cherry tree is awesome. Plus it supports encrypting its files. Try it out. XGAA
I wanted to like this, but it handled images in a pretty broken way the last time I tried it
I have your solution RIGHT HERE!
DEATH TO APPLE!
notepad.exe
these jaktroony graphs are fricking gay frick yourself
>why yes, I use nano, how did you notice?
I know might get some hate for this but I'm unironcally using neovim. Not super fast at it yet but I'm still learning.
>tiddlywiki
>rclone serve webdav .
>Apple Notes can replace Anki or Quizlet
This meme was made by a crayon-eating business major
Google Keep
>be obsidian user
>try to embed mp4 file
>it doesn't work
>it doesn't fricking work
why
depending on the length of the video just use .gif instead
Why did apple commission an artist for these posts now
what do you need an "app" for? I just use
alias addnote='echo -e "$(date)" "$n" "$1" >> ~/notes.txt'
Very nice. Thank you.
Emacs + org-mode is probably what you want, tried it for a bit and liked it but reverted back to just simple .md files and vim (also trying calcurse rn)
That's pretty based ngl
>globohomosexual wojaks
It's actually over.
notepad.exe
Notepad++ is another reputable and popular alternative
I'm a total iToddler with an iphone, ipad & mac but I don't like Apple Notes at all, only Obsidian. My biggest gripe with the default app is it doesn't include code blocks for development notes and code snippets.
I take notes outside of development but it makes more sense to me to write everything in Obsidian markdown files.
https://obsidian.rocks/the-obsidian-code-block/
This isn't available for the default program?
It is in Obsidian, not Apple Notes.
Oops I see my mistake. My brain finds it difficult to fathom someone using Macintosh software willingly, so I assumed whatever is being discussed must be something other than that. I apologize.
From a cursory search, it looks as though APple Notes allows code blocks, you just have to format the text into monostyled/space.
https://medium.com/macoclock/how-apple-notes-is-a-silent-game-changer-for-your-productivity-on-mac-c1bd54fcbd67#7612
well Apple Notes is made for like shopping lists of taking people's numbers, ofc it doesn't have code blocks
>surely no other platform has an application where you can write and save text
iToddlers are so easily impressed it's crazy.
Nothing replaces Anki WTF?
Anki is the shit. One of the few things I pay for.
wtf is with the notes posters recently? who needs a note 'app'
It's useful for storing information I don't want to lose
>commands for terminal apps
>tutorials
>recipes
>random TODO/to read/to watch lists
>gaming cheat sheets
>miscellaneous info
>what are files and bookmarks
Obsolete is what they are, chuddie.
>they just search for it
fuzzy searching is extremely useful, but I can't imagine leaving files unorganized for reasons other than procrastination.
>files
Obsidian creates markdown files under the hood while also giving me a wysiwyg editor, embeddable images/videos, spell checkers and clickable links.
>bookmarks
404 not found
>404 not found
>what is yt-dlp, wget, copy and paste, etc
>>what is yt-dlp, wget, copy and paste, etc
Then you're not using bookmarks anymore.
you bookmark it at first and then save it as a file later. What's so hard to understand about that?
Neovim does the job.
I use scrivener to organize research and planning. If it's just a basic to do list or something a tabbed text editor is perfectly fine.
emacs
Shocked that it took this long. Emacs is literally the original “everything notes app”, to the point that the entire GNU Project owes its existence to Emacs.
zim-wiki (desktop)
markor (android)
text editor + markdown files
literally just mousepad on desktop and markor on mobile?
what's so special about apple notes?
What's wrong with Markor?
Literally emacs' org mode + extensions.
I unironically take notes in Latex.

Not open sauce, but my brain
After switching my desktop to linux I really miss apple notes. Took me way too long to get something where I can just write a note and have it appear on my phone with end2end encryption without having to pay for it. The answer was Joplin, but even that thing is a piece of shit electron app.
