I just like Japan, and I hate most western countries (except my own and a few others). It's literally that simple. It's my preference. If you don't like it, here are a few things you can do: cry, tell your mommy about it, shit your pants, piss your pants, or have a nice day.

They didn't really drop TRON entirely, only the desktop version. For embedded work, TRON is one of the most used operating systems.
Unfortunately they also made things hard to find, so I am not sure about the state of the TRON chip.

    >Where's all the foreign software?
In places you don't see it.
Nowadays most physical high-value products have some sort of software component, be it cars, central heating, or industrial equipment.
According to a lecture I attended ~60% of value creation in German industry is due to software.

    >Where's Japanese OS?
I don't know where the PlayStation OS is being developed but at the very least Sony is a Japanese corporation.
Also a lot of video games are being developed in Japan.
Considering video games in particular the work conditions suggest to me that exploitation of employees is necessary to be competitive.

Its possible but german software is horrible the only reason it creates value is because it makes you dependant on it and they charge the frick out of consulting / replacement etc.Apple is basically free software compared to what germans do.Just look at examples
SAP - horrible huge app ui from 1990 complicated to use complicated to program expensive.Muh you need 10 consultants not 5.
Siemens- expensive hardware,in order to program a plc that deals with bits and bytes IO you have ugly looking software that crashes if you have les than 16 g of ram.
      >every house appliance + software in cars embedded stuff
Unintuitive as frick without tutorial you are fricked.Basic functions like heating goes up down somehow made more complex.

SAP: Slow And Painful, AKA Germany's revenge for the loss of WWII. At one point half the companies implementing SAP collapsed during rollout.
        >Muh you need 10 consultants not 5.
SAP consultants are among the most expensive in the industry. A friend of mine is a SAP consultants and is raking in the dough.
        >Siemens- expensive hardware,in order to program a plc that deals with bits and bytes IO you have ugly looking software that crashes if you have les than 16 g of ram.

Sony farmed out all their firmware development to westerners living in San Francisco around the Vita and PS3 era because they could not do it in-house. That is because software engineering is still a joke in Japan and also why Sony became woke as frick as that satellite office gained more clout.

Software isn't "American" it's just owned by americans because any new software gets released in the biggest economy first for maximum impact. So it's registered and released in English in America because anything else would be economically inferior.

      >Software isn't "American" it's just owned by americans because any new software gets released in the biggest economy first for maximum impact.
Back when I worked in Japan, there were many products and systems that the Japanese made but never exported. When I asked why, the answer was that translations and legal issues were too much of a hassle, and that a market of 120 million Japanese was plenty good enough. The huge US pressure made export unappealing for most others than the very largest Japanese corporations.

Most Japanese software that gets exported isn't consumer facing, It's all embedded deep in medical devices, cars, robotics, etc.
