Not that big of a deal if you only use other people's scripts and you remember where you got them from, however I was writing my own and lost days of progress.
So yeah, tamper is proprietary, but at least it works.

Greasemonkey might be fine, it's the OG, but I like Violentmonkey because it's open source and does what it should do.
