x86 should have never adopted by anyone, not even IBM.
Consumer ARM is STILL using 128-bit SIMD, look it up. It's entirely dependent on programmers caring about MOAR COARS instead of efficiently using just 4 or even 2 in some cases.
Ask any ARM dev, programming for this toy CPU is one of the biggest headaches for the tech world. That's why cloud gaming (ie own nothing) is becoming a thing. Devs would rather users rent an x86 machine over the internet instead of sayyy port GTA V to ARM.

What is the use of an supposedly better architecture if all examples available are infested with unremovable malware without which they cannot function?

iOS?

Yes, Apple Silicon is just as shit as Intel et al.
x86 may be shit but arm is good only for phones and microcontrollers.

There are ARM chips available that can boot without binary blobs and integrated malware.

No one makes anything with them though so that works as a (moronic) rule of thumb.

That's not inherently true. Imagine a 95w tdp arm cpu where there isn't a bunch of software incompatibility nonsense because another architecture is what go developed primarily instead
>I think that hawai phone has some desktop mode >but samsung is the best, Idk why you hate it, it has the best desktop mode out there, the best phones.
Have you actually ever used a samshit product? Their phones haven't been good in over a decade same with tvs laptops and everything else
What's the absolute smallest you can make a standard full-size (wrt alphanumeric keys) keyboard? Are keyboards with different keycap sizes and spacing uncomfortable or hard to get used to?
Depends on if you want to keep the standard key size or not. I think 10" is the smallest for a 60% keyboard where some of the edge keys will be smaller, but alphanumerical will be the same. If you want the keys to be smaller like in OP pic, I think 5-6" is the smallest
If you don't care about price, there's the GPD Win Max 2 and OneNetbook A1. Otherwise you might be able to find a used Let's Note from Japan for a low price. Those are the smallest laptops I know of that don't have a totally cramped keyboard.
i always wanted one of those GPD Win things back when they were still clamshells, immediately lost interest when they went the way of "generic switch knockoff"
Micro PC looks cozy as frick for use as, well... a micro pc. Slightly better for it than the Win Mini, cause the game controls crowd the keyboard.
I just want my laptop and my gaming handheld to be a single device I can fit it my jacket pocket, so the compromise on the keyboard seems worth it to me.
(Also easier decision because i don't already have a Micro PC. Would've been an absolute no brainer if I didn't have a Steam Deck, but my room mate wants to buy that, so if the Win Mini fully replaces it I can sell it without even leaving my house.)

I have a steam deck and a micro pc and thats the exact reason why I want a win mini
any of you put win10 on a deck or rog or any of these? windows 11 interface sucks and people say its super bloated. would it be a big upgrade to downgrade to win 10?
i got a legion go and steam deck instead. i wish i knew someone who had the gpd win mini so i could try it.
>any of you put win10 on a deck or rog or any of these? windows 11 interface sucks and people say its super bloated. would it be a big upgrade to downgrade to win 10?
I booted Windows 10 off an external SSD with my Steam Deck just to try it out.
It was fine, but I prefer SteamOS. I use Linux way more than I do Windows, though so of course that's gonna be comfier for me. I'd be more inclined to put Bazzite or something on a handheld that comes with Windows 11.
If you play games that need BattlEye or if you just prefer Windows, I'd say 10 seemed to work fine. Gotta go with LTSC IoT if you want security updates until 2032. Normal home user versions stop getting security updates next year.
>i wish i knew someone who had the gpd win mini so i could try it.
Same. It's a pretty expensive thing to buy without having so much as held one or seen one in person. It's just that it's basically exactly a device I wished existed when I was a child, and now it does. Hoping it's as good as it looks once I get it.
an iphone
Entire mountains of laptop e-waste exists because we adopted this toy cpu for phones instead of x86.
I have like 9 laptops cumulatively in my household though, smallest one is 13" lol
small form factor is best served by a mini tablet computer aka a cellphone
The problem is those have absolute shit OSes.
It has nothing to do with cput architecture and everything to do with touch screens

You are not straight and you are autistic.
Actually you can install windows 11 on phone, but it has to be snap 850 minimum.

There's motorola which is servicable at best
I think that hawai phone has some desktop mode

Thanks. I wonder if there's anything besides the Chuwi Minibook in that market segment.

what use would a NEET have for a umpc?

GPD clamshells are back, anon.
The GPD Win Mini is a bit bigger than a 3DS XL, and will fit easily in a jacket pocket.
I've ordered one to put Linux on. Looks very comfy
That one
I sort of want one but my micro pc is so comfy

The raspberry pi. Nothing beats it.

I want to build my own since years using an SBC but at the moment the project is on hold, for now I just use my Thinkpad x220 tablet.
