Who were the Etruscans?
were they pre-Indo-Europeans like the Basque or Nuragic peoples?
or were they migrants from somewhere else?

>Who were the Etruscans?
At one point, they were very successful paleo-italics.
>were they pre-Indo-Europeans like the Basque or Nuragic peoples?
Probably
>or were they migrants from somewhere else?
Not likely.
god i wish that was me
Whats the difference between Etruria and Etrusca?
>Etruria
the lands of etruscans
>Etrusca
that's not a word
Then why call them Etruscans not etrurians?
beats me
England is full of english instead of englanders
France is full of frenchmen instead of francians
etc
It's not really clear; they are linked to the Villanova culture in Italy starting from the XII-XI century bC,that is in turn similar to the Urnfield culture of the rest of central europe.
They spoke a non Idoeuropean language that hasn't been traslated, no other similar language is known outside of Raetian, another people living in the east of the italian alps.
They called themselves Rasna, the greeks called them Tursi(?) or Tyrreni and were known for their piratical actions.
Some writers say that they were autoctonous to Italy, other that they come from Anatolia.
>other that they come from Anatolia.
how realistic is that theory?
to have come from boat or all the way on land to end up on the peninsula and all that in large numbers to be able to populate such a large area seems like quite a stretch to me
Honestly no idea, we really don't know much about them
Etruscan (Tusci) = Tyrhenian = Turan (Turki) = Turkic
Simple as
All Mediterraneans come from Türkiye. Mongolian Empire was Turkish. Rum/Roman Empire wuz Turkish. Simple as.
And modern Turks come from Central Asia. Simple as.
Schizofrenia
They seem Asian
in what way?
They are an evolution of the Villanovan culture, which ultimately originated from Central European cultures like the Urnfield. The langauge itself was probably local.
They were very similar to the Italic neighbors
>we will never recover claudius' book about the history of the etruscans
it still hurts
Haruspicy proves they were displaced babylonians probably from the amorite takeover
