>Who were the Phoenicians
A tribe of child-sacrificing, idol-worshipping, ritualistic prostituting Canaanites
>Where did they come from?
They lived in modern Lebanon
>What religion were they?
They worshipped demons of sex and violence like Baal or Ashtoreth
>Why did they do it?
They displayed the same disgusting traits of their forefather Ham who raped Noah. Jehovah prophecied that their vile kind would be trumped over by the seed of Shem.
So you're claiming they were israelites? I don't think israelites existed around that time didn't they?
Phoenicians were seafaring mercantile Semites, largely Canaanite in terms of ethnic and religious heritage. They were not the first seafaring Semites (See: Hyksos, Habiru, Labu, Meshwesh etc...), but they were the most successful, as they laid the foundations for the Carthaginian empire.
That guy is kind of a moron. You can safely disregard his bible prophecy bullshit, though the stuff about them being Canaanites is basically true. In regard to israelites, there is a significant amount of ethnic, linguistic, and cultural overlap between Hebrews/Israelites and Canaanites (they once were essentially the same ethnic group), though as Judaism spread, they drifted apart in significant ways.
This guy has the gist of it. Don't know about that last paragraph however.
Also those statues look like aliens so they were probably contacted by Ayy Lmaos at some point.
I think Canaan was cursed because he was the offspring of Ham and Noah's wife, but yours works too...
P.S. The "Phoenician" territories were conquered by the Israelites in the bible, they just failed to kill them off and instead made them give tribute.
I think you confused them with Philistines. Different peoples. Phoenicians existed for a long time and weren't conquered by Israelites. Rather by Greeks and Romans.
[Jdg 1:28 KJV] 28 And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.
The end of Judges 1 explains all the Canaanite cities the Israelites did not purge, but instead accepted tribute from and even dwelt among them(cities like Tyre and Sidon were well within Israelite tribal allotments, I believe Asher's.)
The LORD+David count Israelites in Canaanite areas; [2Sa 24:1, 6-7 KJV] 1 And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah. ... 6 Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon, 7 And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, [even] to Beersheba.
King David had a strong relationship with King Hiram, which continued under his son Solomon and they helped build the temple.
noone knows homie
there was some european migration event but its not clear where their ancestors came from afaik. minoans aka cretans are relatively likely i think. by the time of the bible they were heavily intermixed with the local population though
homie what are you even saying? They were semitic not EEF. Even the J2 among them isn't Minoan.
E1b was their main y dna (e m123)
Based on what? I don't think there are many Phoenician/Punic samples with this haplogroup.
There were , e m123 is considered a tracker for canaanite colonisation and settlements almost all of it locations were historically colonised or settled by canaanites most notably cyprus
Canaanites were predominantly J whereas Israelites were predominantly E.
You cannot apply the same stupid "one-size-fits-all, every-race-is-their-location, nation-state" description, overused by this stupid website, to describe history. The 'Phoenicians' went by different names at different times, Amorites, Carthaginians, Venetians, etc.
well if you ask a citizen of lebanon who has an arabic name, speaks arabic, follows an arabic religion, and doesn't know a single thing about phoenicians, he will tell you he is a phoenician
Modern day Muslims are some of the least reliable historians on the fricking planet. Right down there with BHIs, Mormons, Scientologists, Raelians, and Christian Identity homosexuals. Sad to think that they once were able to record their observations without shitpiling Islamic supersessionism all over them.
>well if you ask a citizen of lebanon who has an arabic name, speaks arabic, follows an arabic religion, and doesn't know a single thing about phoenicians, he will tell you he is a phoenician
lmao but it's okay when Europeans do it
But he never said that.
>lmao but it's okay when Europeans do it
I've never met, or even encountered, a European who claimed to be a Phoenician.
I'm a phoenician
I thought that was just Taleb/Maronite cope
>Taleb
Pure Greek of Mycenaean blood. Ask him yourself.

No, those would be the hunter gatherers who hunted whales and fished tuna, and settled several islands near Sicily such as the Aegadian and Aeolian islands, they also left behind the first boat yard known in Southern England
https://archaeology.co.uk/articles/features/boatyard-beneath-the-solents-waves.htm
Then the Neolithic farmers from Anatolia who colonized every single island in the Aegean and Cyprus and brough livestock and other animals there, they expanded in Europe and colonized every island in the Mediterranean including Lampedusa, the Maltese archipelago, Ustica, Pantelleria, except for maybe the Balearic islands. They set up trading networks and transported the obsidian from the Mediterranean islands (Melos, Lipari, Sardinia, Pantelleria, Palmarola) overseas to other islands and to the mainland for thousands of kilometers. They left behind the oldest known sea worthy boat ever recovered in the Mediterranean (discovered in the Lake of Bracciano, Central Italy, in the Cardium pottery culture village of La Marmotta), and arrived as far as Morocco and Sweden, so they were pretty proficient seafarers.
Then you have the Beaker people who invaded England and Britain, colonized the Balearics, settled some other Mediterranean islands or traded with them, and occupied Morocco and traded African and Asian ivory from elephants.
In the bronze age tin from Iberia and England was traded overseas in the Atlantic and reached the Mediterranean, Baltic amber made it to Iberia and the Mediterranean islands, Sicilian amber reached Iberia since the copper age, copper from Cyprus and Israel made it to the Western Mediterranean, Mycenaean pottery made it as far as Iberia and was imitated and produced locally in South Italy and Sardinia, Italic and Sardinian pottery was traded overseas as far as the Eastern Mediterranean and produced there too.
And the oldest shipwreck in the Mediterranean too is from the Aegean near the Peloponnese, nowhere near where the Phoenicians or their ancestors lived, and contained a cargo of local Peloponnese pottery and goods from 2700-2200 bc
