Why? C is pretty difficult compared to most other languages and it's used for low level programming that necessitates good knowledge of the actual machine.

embedded isn't actually very hard
t. embedded dev
C s often used in embedded shit. embedded shit are real prodects which are tangible and useful and Wall Street knows how to value them so the companies know how to undercut their employees and maximize profit. also Chinese and eastern European people know how to do embedded so you're competing against their prices.
Embedded is the worst type of programming salary wise. Webshitters and pythonjeets earn 2x more than you and you do complex shit they can't even comprehend. That's why I quit and went to systems/backend programming, there will be a shortage of embedded devs in 10-15 years cuz no one wants to do it for peanuts. They pay like 1500e - 4000e a month for a senior in Europe. It's a literal joke. The worst part is having to interact with hardware morons and even more clueless managers who don't have a single clue about projects. Otherwise it is pretty interesting, but also easy once you get the hang of it.
> Webshitters and pythonjeets earn 2x more than you and you do complex shit they can't even comprehend
it’s not quite that bad but they do earn more than us
we have thin margins and physical products, they can inflate their value to the moon based on bullshit like “brand awareness”
Bro, HR and managers are making more money than you and they treat you like a chink Apple factory slave. I would rather starve now than work for such companies again, frick them.
it hasn’t gotten that bad in my company yet
we do have an occasional HR flower that takes pride in “operating emails expertly” unironically while surrounded by people who are basically walking references to ieee standards
yeah that pic is BS kek
Do you know what an average is you dense c**t?
o sure those 197 160,000+ jobs are actually $8m + bonuses / annum
still wouldn't explain how C# average fares under 90k, like are there hidden job offers with negative salaries
111K avg for Ruby
120K avg for C#
At least according to the numbers from the dropdowns here
OP's pic says it's from 2022, and it also uses glassdoor. Could that be the issue?
You're telling me the minimum wage for C# dev is $95k?
Cnile brainrot in full display
Because C isn't used outside of OS's and embedded devices (and maybe making Python libraries). There isn't a huge demand for C compare to others. If you want money learn Cobol/Fortran and how to maintain 50 year old IBM mainframes. Banks still rely on this shit and everyone who knows how to work/maintain them is about to die.
>learn Cobol/Fortran
unironically thinking about doing this tbh.
In actual reality, C is not useful. A bootcamper will produce a cookie cutter website, its a useful skill.
A cnile brainlet will yell at the cloud and write a shitty script that lights up an LED.
You're missing the point, it's harder to use so it should pay better
Not how it works. Companies pay for what generates capital more efficiently.
brainfrick should pay 300k a year
that's not how the real world works chud
You get paid based on the value you generate for customers, idiot.
C isn't really used for anything of value. Performance software uses C++, compilers and such use C++.
C is a CS 101 language that's hard because it's badly designed, not because you have to use your brain.
