IQs has decreased dramatically. Basically there are four factors that affect IQ:
1. Prehistoric environment - if you live in cold climates, you will not reproduce if you cannot think ahead/be smart in general
2. General inequality combined with real poverty - if you have it, the wealthier and therefore smarter people will reproduce while the poor will die (this was true before modern wealth and medicine)
3. Female mate selection - women do not select for IQ except for in terms of wealth. In the West women prefer dominance and height over IQ since most people are reasonably wealthy. Therefore IQ drops.
4. Lifestyle and upbringing, which affect brain development.
Basically all four factors are going downhill. The West is being flooded by low IQ Black folk, relative equality means that even the poor (or especially them) reproduce, femoids lower IQ further and both lifestyles, diet, upbringing etc. tend to be subpar for IQ development. The moronation that we see in literature is just one manifestation of this.

I am 6'0, have a ~120 IQ, and make $250k/year. Self-esteem is also good. Very content and privileged to be above average at everything but not so good at anything as to be autistic about it. It is comfy to not seeth at anything.

You should really read more, OP. Expand your horizon. Don't read just the 100 top books, delve into the stuff lots of people read. Popular novels of olden times are forgotten nowadays because they never became part of the canon.
