I’ve been fascinated by the Coptic text that have recently been discovered. They shine so much light on the inner workings of the early church. So many remain untranslated. I’ve been diving into trying to learn how to read some Coptic because I’d love to read through these works.
Fair but the reason for this is that the texts are all just alternate editions of texts we already have and there's not much interest for that outside of people really interested in and familiar with fairly minute textual variants. It's not something there'd be much demand for outside of explicit ancient language academia.
The fact that we have Wisdom of Solomon in Coptic is probably a decent illustration of diasporic Egyptian israelites were more likely to use the Greek canon/deuterocanon than the Israelite Second Temple israelites were. The main theory is that Wisdom was literally composed in Egypt just like how Sirach was translated from Hebrew to Greek in Egypt as stated in its prologue.
